Madonna Once Tried To Convince Michael Jackson To 'Dress Like A Girl' For A Music Video

Any Michael Jackson fan remembers the pop star's iconic music video for his hit 1991 single, "In The Closet."

The music video stars Jackson and supermodel Naomi Campbell.

The short film was shot in Salton Sea, California with iconic fashion photographer Herb Ritts in the director’s chair.

The video was a hit, and the production crew took home an MTV Music Video Award for Best Choreography.

The now iconic, sepia-toned short film is considered to be one of Jackson's more provocative pieces.

However, this was not how the video was orginally meant to go down. Jackson had allegedly wanted his friend Madonna to play his love interest.

The drama was recently revealed by music legend Babyface on his Instagram live with Teddy Riley .

Apparently, Madonna wanted Jackson to dress in drag for the "In The Closet" music video, which tbh would be FIRECE!

But, clearly THAT was not the vibe MJ was going for!

Babyface said Jackson told him, “‘Babyface, can you believe she wants me to dress like a girl?’"

"He was like, ‘I’d never do that.’ He said, ‘She was trying to change it all up. It was crazy’ … He was really mad about it.”

And with that, Madonna was replaced and Naomi Campbell was cast in the award winning music video.

And the rest, as they say, was history.
