Man Frightens His Friends With Elaborate 'Attic Noises' Prank In Hilarious Video

A lot of us are feeling pretty bored right now and it's also become pretty apparent that we can only see our friends online for the most part.

But as my Dungeons and Dragons group can attest, the best way to keep yourself as comfortable as possible through these bizarre times is to let your creativity soar. But if you'd rather not do that by pretending to be an elf, there are other ways to bring your friends closer together.

For one man in the U.K., that involved some creative editing and a group of friends who had no idea what they were getting into. And as you'll see in the full video, he really went all-out.

This is Rob Savage, a man who has spent at least the last month setting up a pretty impressive prank for his friends.

Unfortunately, it doesn't involve this dog, but here's a nice picture of it anyway.

All the way back on March 19, he tweeted out, "Quarantine: Just me and the man I'm pretty sure lives in my attic."

It turned out that this was more than just a throwaway joke.

At this point, it's worth noting that Savage is a horror director who has put some short films on Vimeo.

These include Salt, which is where this screenshot comes from, and Dawn of the Deaf.

So when Savage called his friends and told them about some noises he had been hearing in his attic, it's hard to know what they thought.

He was sure that the noise wasn't the work of his neighbors, which led one of his friends to spitball that he was hearing "mutant rats."

He then decided to grab a knife and investigate these noises, which his friends strongly cautioned against.

While some were concerned that a serial killer was up there, another figured that Savage would just end up falling from the attic and stabbing himself.

Nonetheless, his camera showed him forging ahead anyway and scanning the attic with his phone.

As they saw the atmosphere of the seemingly empty, but creepy attic, the tension was clearly getting to some of them.

And then in classic horror fashion, something shows up that gives them a reason to feel so uncomfortable.

You'll have to watch the full video to find out what it was, but needless to say, it made all of them jump out of their skin.

Well, OK, not quite all of them.

This guy with the Reese Witherspoon background didn't believe that this was real for a second, but he was still pretty impressed at what Savage had pulled off here.

His girlfriend and fellow director Kate Herron was also on the call, but she knew what was going on as well.

That's because he had already made her worry herself sick for him by testing the prank footage on her before the call was made.

Now that you've got the background, here's the prank in full and a look at what exactly was supposed to jump out at Savage.

He later revealed that those who have seen the 2007 Spanish film REC will probably find his "attic" very familiar.
