Weinstein's defense had previously asked for a short sentence given Weinstein's poor health and advanced age, saying any sentence above five years "is likely to constitute a de facto life sentence."
Michael Powers, the president of New York's Correctional Officers and Police Benevolent Association has confirmed that Weinstein has been placed in isolation at Wende Correctional Facility.
Weinstein was transferred on March 18th to the facility, where Powers had stated the corrections officers had lacked proper protective equipment.
Powers also stated that several staff members who had interacted with Weinstein have now been quarantined.
Weinstein and his legal representatives have not made a public statement at the time of publication.
