I took a class called Making and Thinking back in my second year of my Master's, and it's exactly what you think it would entail: making and thinking. The purpose of the class was to make something and reflect on the process. While it may seem silly to take a whole class to do something like that, I do have to say I never really thought about how powerful making something with your hands is.
I noticed that focusing on the stitches of embroidery instead of spending hours procrastinating on Facebook really helped divert my attention from my stress and even calmed me. Now I know there's actual evidence to support my feelings.
