5+ TV Shows That Are Already Canceled In 2020

There are shows out there that get canceled late in the year. Usually, there is a time of year where networks look over their shows and decide which ones get the proverbial ax.

These shows were too antsy to wait all that time, and they needed to get canceled early!

These are the shows that are already canceled in 2020.

1. 'The Crown'

Netflix

Lifespan: 5 Seasons

It's a bummer for all the fans of this show about The Queen, but keep in mind this show isn't technically being canceled.

It's showrunner Peter Morgan who is pulling the plug.

Why, you ask? Well, he answers this perfectly: "At the outset I had imagined 'The Crown' running for six seasons..."

Netflix

"But now that we have begun work on the stories for season five it has become clear to me that this is the perfect time and place to stop".

"I think there's a certain amount of time within which, if you write about it, what you do instantly becomes journalistic because it's too close to the moment."

Netflix

"If you wait a certain amount of time, if you allow fifteen or twenty years, basically a generation, between you and [the events] then you can write about it somewhat freely as drama."

And he finished with:

"Let's wait twenty years and see what there is to say about Meghan Markle".

2. 'AJ and the Queen'

Lifespan: 1 Season

There are no official reasons as to why this show by RuPaul was canceled, but people suspect that it's because of low ratings.

RuPaul has already tweeted about it.

3. 'Atypical'

Netflix

Lifespan: 4 Seasons

It will be the fourth and final season for the show. The creator is feeling grateful that they got to make it to four seasons.

"I'm thrilled we'll be doing a season four of Atypical."

"And while I'm so sad to be nearing the end of this series, I am extremely grateful to have been able to tell this story."

And boy are we sad to see it go!

4. 'Ray Donovan'

Showtime

Lifespan: 7 Seasons

After 7 long seasons, the show is coming to an end.

Showtime has made a statement, being very cordial of course, but showrunner David Hollander has different feelings about the matter.

"We had no indicator that the show was ending."

Showtime

"We were behaving creatively as though we were in mid-sentence. And so, there was no sense that this was going to be a completion."

"This was in no way a series finale [...] this wasn't meant to be [the ending]."

"You could spin it one way and say that it's hard to satisfy an audience with a finale, not that I didn't want to try."

"I always want the opportunity to try. I just wish I had."

If you're tearing up after reading that statement, don't worry, you are definitely not the only one!

5. 'Insatiable'

Netflix

Lifespan: 2 Seasons

For those of you wondering how a show like Insatiable could have been canceled, you may have been living under a rock.

The show has been getting some serious backlash since its release.

There was even a petition to get it canceled.

"For so long, the narrative has told _women_ and _young impressionable girls_ that in order to be popular, have friends, to be desirable for the male gaze, and to some extent be a worthy human..."

Netflix

"... that we must be thin. [...] This series will cause eating disorders, and perpetuate the further objectification of women's bodies. The trailer has already triggered people with eating disorders."

Debby Ryan, who plays the main character, spoke to 'Vanity Fair' about what the show was trying to promote.

"I think the message is you don't have to polish things up all the time and look a certain way. We all have something that we want or try to be," said Ryan.

"As long as we are sincere and transparent, we can fuel our desires to success and lead to redemption and to make things right no matter how we look."

"That's one thing that I took away," she finished.

Despite how she believed in it, the show could not go on.

6. 'Bosch'

Amazon Prime

Lifespan: 8 Seasons

Luckily, Bosch fans will be getting a final season, so they'll get to see how their show ends.

But after that, it's the end for the show that's lasted so long on Amazon Prime.

7. 'Spinning Out'

Netflix

Lifespan: 1 season

Spinning Out will not be getting a second season.

While we don't know why this show in particular was canceled, we know Netflix gets rid of shows that do poorly in viewing figures.

8. 'Soundtrack'

Netflix

Lifespan: 1 season

This show has had a tumultuous life.

It was supposed to air on Fox, then it didn't, then the first season aired on Netflix, and then it was canceled.

9. 'Almost Family'

FOX

Lifespan: 1 season

It had some pretty bad ratings from the beginning and the allegations against Timothy Hutton (the dad on the show) didn't help.

Almost Family is done.

Like, forever.

10. 'The Magicians'

Syfy

Lifespan: 5 Seasons

They had some decent ratings going into their last couple of seasons, but they were nowhere near the numbers at the start of the show.

And so, the show has been canceled.

Syfy said in a statement to Deadline: "'The Magicians' has been a part of our Syfy family for five fantastic seasons".

"[...] we thank the fans for their tremendous support and passion. Because of you, magic will be in our hearts forever."

So sad.
