Chrissy Teigen Opens Up About Struggles With Postpartum Depression: 'There Were No Highs'

Chrissy Teigen is definitely the queen of keeping it real, although that usually refers to ranking girl scout cookies or clapping back at someone on Twitter. In an interview with Glamour UK, Chrissy has opened up about a much more serious topic: postpartum depression.

Chrissy revealed she wasn't aware she was suffering from postpartum depression for three months after the birth of her daughter Luna.

“It was a sad existence,” she said of those three months. “There were no highs. It was a flatline of life for a few months.”

Chrissy stated that she “put off getting it checked” due to misconceptions about how postpartum depression presents.

“You hear these horrific stories of people not seeing their child as theirs, or wanting to hurt them, and I never felt that way. That’s why I put off getting it checked as I hated myself, not my child,” she stated.

“I don’t know why I didn’t realize, as it was so obvious to everyone else!”

“I didn’t know it could sneak up so late or that it could happen to someone like me, where I have all the resources. I had nannies and my mom living with us,” Chrissy explained.

“You say you have it and people think, ‘Is she going to jump off a roof with her kid?’"

"They don’t know there are so many levels of it.”

Chrissy also revealed that it took a toll on her body as well as her mental state.

"I lost my baby weight and more within a month."

"I posted a picture of myself making a Mother’s Day lunch. I look back at that photo and it is the thinnest I’ve ever looked,” Chrissy revealed.

It's inspiring to see someone with such a huge platform spreading awareness and sharing her experience with this issue!
