Jared Leto Shares Video Of Moment He 'Nearly Died' While Rock Climbing

I don't think you could pay me enough to go rock climbing on actual mountains — it's scary enough just on rock climbing walls with big padded mats waiting for you at the bottom, let alone when there's nothing between you and 600 foot drop.

Jared Leto almost found that out the hard way on a recent excursion.

Jared Leto, award-winning musician and actor, is looking to add some other titles to his already impressive legacy.

The 30 Seconds To Mars singer and Academy Award winning actor (Dallas Buyers Club) looks like he's trying to add "rock climber" to his accomplishments, according to something at his Twitter.

"Not to be dramatic, but this is the day I nearly died," Leto said alongside these shots of him in climbing gear.

"Took a pretty good fall climbing with @AlexHonnold at Red Rock," he added, tagging Alex Honnold, who is a climbing legend and star of the climbing documentary Free Solo.

"Looked up and within seconds the rope was being cut by the rock while I dangled some 600 ft in the air," he explained.

"I remember looking down at the ground below," he said. "It was a strange moment - less fear, more matter of fact, and slightly melancholy. The adrenaline came after, when I got back on the wall."

"But we made it through and lived to see another day," Jared added.

"Overall it was actually quite fun. We continued climbing into the night," Jared said, sharing a video of the moment in question, which you can watch here — Jared's language is decidedly (and understandably) NSFW, so you might want to watch with headphones.

We're glad that Jared and Alex are both okay!
