Eva Mendes and Ryan Gosling have always managed to keep their relationship on the DL. So private, in fact, you might've forgotten by now, or not even realized they were an item.
But Eva recently revealed why she likes to keep her personal life just that: Personal.
Understandably, she seems to limit how much access her followers have to her personal life.
Which is — quite honestly, the smartest way to use social media if you're concerned about privacy.
And she recently revealed that she plans to keep it that way!
The pair met back in August 2011, while filming The Place Beyond the Pines together.
From there, their professional relationship quickly turned into a romantic one.
They were seen holding hands and hugging at Disneyland, just one month after meeting each other.
They introduced each other to each other's respective parents, spent family holidays together, and made a ton of public appearances holding hands for the paparazzi.
A couple of months later, Eva opened up in an interview with The Violet Files about some of the struggles of motherhood, saying:
"I thought my wild nights were over but these are some of the wildest nights I've ever had."
She's "the person I'm supposed to be with," he said. "There's nothing else I'm looking for."
A source revealed in a statement to People that Eva "just hasn't ever wanted anyone beyond her close friends and family knowing more than they had to.
And Ryan is certainly private and always has been."
Late last week Eva replied to a fan's comment on Instagram, revealing the reason why she keeps her family-life as under-the-radar as possible.
"Just wanted to say how much it means to us fans to be able to talk to you and how great is that unlike many other celebrities you acknowledge us. So thank you! p.s. wouldn't mind an appearance by Ryan on this page."
"I struggle with Social Media but I love the constant connection with women. I try to post responsibly and I try to make sure I don't portray myself in a way that makes other women feel bad."
"I want women to know it takes a lot for me to look this way and that I struggle with food among many other things."
"As far as Ryan, I'll only post flash backs of things that are already 'out there' (like pics from movies we did or stuff like that)," she wrote.
"That's important to me so thanks for getting that. Have a beautiful day. Sending so much love," she concluded.
But good for her to valuing her family's privacy so much — it's a rare thing to see amongst families in Hollywood!
