Back in the day, a product hit the market that made kids scream in horror and excitement, and parents scream "no!" at their kids. That product was Heinz EZ Squirt ketchup, a lineup of three different colored ketchups, two being purple and green. Imagining the vibrant colors on fries, burgers, and scrambled eggs made faces scrunch and stomachs curl right into themselves.
This is because we eat with our eyes first, as the popular saying and science proves. By taking something you already associate with being delicious, like red ketchup, and replacing the color can send cues to the brain that this just ain't right.
