Many Harry Potter fans were left craving more after the series came to a close.

But thankfully, J.K. Rowling has continued to update the public on the wizarding world.

From the personal lives of the golden trio to which of them was almost killed off, here are the most shocking post-series reveals ...

1. Dolores Umbridge was inspired by a real person!

Despite her love for the color pink and kitten plates, Dolores Umbridge was one of the evilest characters in the Harry Potter universe.

At least we know Voldemort isn't real, but Dolores was based on a real woman whom Rowling once encountered.

2. Harry and Ron never graduated from Hogwarts.

And can you blame them? After the events of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, I'm not sure what they have left to learn.

But don't worry, their lack of school credits didn't stop them from working for the Ministry.

3. Luna Lovegood marries Newt Scamander's grandson.

If his grandson, Rolf, is anything like Newt Scamander, the author of Fantastic Beast and Where to Find Them, then he's perfect for Luna.

According to Rowling, the "T" at the end of Voldemort is supposed to be silent. However, she's admitted she's probably the only one who says it like that.

6. Neville's parents never recover.

In this heartbreaking revelation, Rowling revealed that Frank and Alice Longbottom live out the remainder of their lives in the hospital.

"The damage is done, in some cases with very dark magic, is done permanently," said Rowling.

Apparently, we can't have nice things because Rowling says she regrets putting Ron and Hermione together.

In her opinion, Ron would need to work on his self-esteem and Hermione would have to become less critical for the relationship to work.

In response to a fan on Twitter, Rowling revealed that she told Rickman the meaning behind the word "always."

This means that he knew about his character's love for Lily Potter long before anyone else did.

9. She doesn't understand the love for Draco Malfoy.

Draco is a pretty bad guy, but that hasn't stopped fans from falling under his spell.

"I have often had cause to remark on how unnerved I have been by the number of girls who feel for this particular fictional character," said Rowling.

10. Professor Dumbledore is gay.

Rowling told fans about Dumbledore's sexuality back in 2007 and ever since we've been learning more about his life before Hogwarts.

In an upcoming sequel to Fantastic Beasts, Jude Law will play the young version of Dumbledore.

11. Both Ron and Arthur were almost killed.

While Rowling had always planned for Ron, Harry, and Hermione to survive, there was a time when she "seriously considered" killing Ron.

She also almost killed off Arthur Weasley — but she didn't because she wanted to keep one "good father" alive.

And obviously, Ron considers this one of his greatest achievements.

Their cards explain how they contributed to Voldemort's defeat and changed the Ministry of Magic. I mean, they saved the wizarding world, so I think they earned this one.

14. There are Jewish wizards at Hogwarts.

After receiving inquiries from fans, Rowling revealed that there is at least one Jewish wizard at Hogwarts.

Anthony Goldstein was also among the first 40 students she created for the first book.

15. Harry made sure that Snape was remembered properly.

Snape could have died without any one knowing about the role he played in Voldemort's defeat.

Rowling said that Harry would have made sure Snape's contributions to the fight were remembered — including ensuring Snape's portrait was put up at Hogwarts.

According to Rowling, the ghost was inspired by "the frequent presence of a crying girl in communal bathrooms."

"This does not seem to happen in male bathrooms, so I enjoyed placing Harry and Ron in such uncomfortable and unfamiliar territory."
