Ben Affleck Says Divorce From Jennifer Garner Is 'The Biggest Regret Of My Life'

Ben Affleck has been incredibly transparent about his recovery from an alcohol addiction and has not shied away from his struggles and the effects it has had on his life. In a new interview with The New York Times, Ben has opened up about one of the biggest impacts this addiction had on his life.

"Shame is really toxic," Ben told the NYT when it came to his drinking problem.

"There is no positive byproduct of shame. It's just stewing in a toxic, hideous feeling of low self-worth and self-loathing."

"I drank relatively normally for a long time," Ben stated.

"What happened was that I started drinking more and more when my marriage was falling apart. This was 2015, 2016," Ben confirmed. Ben and his ex-wife, actress Jennifer Garner, were married in 2005 and separated in 2015.

"My drinking, of course, created more marital problems."

Ben was extremely transparent with how much he regrets the situation, stating plainly, "The biggest regret of my life is this divorce.”

“It’s not particularly healthy for me to obsess over the failures — the relapses — and beat myself up."

“I have certainly made mistakes. I have certainly done things that I regret. But you’ve got to pick yourself up, learn from it, learn some more, try to move forward.”

That's an admirable attitude, and we love to see Ben being so honest about this journey!
