Steve Martin And Chris Rock's Oscars Monologue Will Go Down In History As One Of The Most Awkward

Chris Rock and Steve Martin gave the opening monologue at this year's Oscars and it was BONKAS, to say the least.

Since the award show decided to forgo a host for the second year in a row, it was up to Steve Martin and Chris Rock to give the audience some much needed comedic relief.

However, it seems things didn't totally go to plan..

But to be fair, The Oscars didn't give the comedians much to work with.

The Academy has been under fire for their lack of diversity in the nominations this year.

The show neglected to nominate any women in the Best Director category, a wrong Natalie Portman was trying to right last night.

Her cape was embroidered with the names of this years snubbed female directors!

This fact did not go unnoticed by the comedy duo, who pointed out the lack of "vaginas" on the list of nominees.

They also joked about the lack of nominations for people of color.

They had to point out the obvious!

However, it seems that discussing the *OBVIOUS* made a lot of people in audience a lil' uncomfy.

The room felt quiet and noticeably cringey, lol.

THE TOPICS ARE TOUGH TO WORK WITH!

One Twitter user wrote: "Steve Martin and Chris Rock joking about the lack of diversity in the Oscar nominated films doesn’t make up for the fact that there is no diversity in the Oscar nominated films. Awkward!"

Where's the lie, though?!

If things weren't tense enough, the men also took a few jabs at Amazon founder Jeff Bezos. IT WAS SO AWKWARD Y'ALL!

This was ICONIC, tbh.

Divorce jokes? Absolutely here for it.

This is the kind of energy the rich deserve.

And on that note, what do you think of Steve Martin and Chris Rock's opening monologue?! Should they have been the hosts?!
