Jessica Simpson Turned Down Starring In 'The Notebook' To Avoid The Sex Scene With Ryan Gosling

Everyone loves to sit down and have a good cry to The Notebook, even other celebrities. When singer, songwriter, and now author Jessica Simpson watches it, she might be crying for a different reason.

Jessica's memoir, "Open Book," is full of juicy stories and details about the star's life we never knew.

Including her rocky relationships with Nick Lachey, John Mayer, and Johnny Knoxville.

She also talked about her career as an actress and revealed one surprising fact.

Jessica turned down the role of Allie in 'The Notebook.'

The role would later go to Rachel McAdams and still stands out as one of her most iconic roles of all time.

Jessica's reasoning for saying no was also pretty shocking.

“I knew exactly what the movie was about because I had read the script,” Jessica revealed in her book.

However, she revealed that she'd only have accepted the part under one condition: the removal of the sex scene with her and Ryan Gosling's character.

Obviously, that deal fell through, but Jessica has complicated feelings about the film for many reasons.

"It was the most romantic movie in the world, and I was leaving Nick," she wrote.

"The movie was on every screen, and I was swept up into it, wishing I had that great love that would be forever," Jessica discussed, as the movie came out the same time she was going through her divorce.

Of course, things worked out for Jessica AND for Rachel McAdams, who beat out Reese Witherspoon and Britney Spears for the part.

Can you imagine a version of The Notebook starring Jessica Simpson as Allie? Do you think she'd have done an okay job?
