Petition To Remove Amber Heard From 'Aquaman 2' Gets Over 197,000 Signatures

We definitely should have seen this coming. If there's one thing the internet likes to do, it's go on social media to talk about their feelings.

But if there's a second thing the internet likes to do, it's creating online petitions. Hey, sometimes they work out, other times they don't.

Let's see how this one does.

TW: This article contains depictions or discussions of domestic violence and abuse and may be triggering to some readers.

We have all heard about Amber Heard, right?

She accused Johnny Depp of abusing her back at the height of the #MeToo movement.

Not to say that he didn't, but it was also recently revealed that she (in the very least) also abused him?

Multiple audio files were released showing that Heard did in fact, at the very least, hit him.

Fans were outraged at the prospect of this happening to Depp.

Amber Heard can be heard saying that she can't even promise that she wouldn't get physical with Depp again.

Which, let's be honest, doesn't look good on her end.

Following that, fans blew up the internet demanding justice for Johnny Depp.

After all, there have been countless people tearing him down for what he had reportedly done to her, that fans felt justice had to be served.

They created an online petition for Depp, in order to get him back on "Pirates of the Caribbean."

Disney had let him go after everything with Amber Heard happened.

The petition on change.org has currently gotten over 90,000 signatures.

They are trying to get to a whopping 150,000.

It seems like a lot, but day after day, they are getting closer and closer.

In fact, fans of Heard wanted Depp to lose more than just the role of Jack Sparrow.

Warner Bros.

They also balked at the idea of him playing Grindelwald in the Fantastic Beasts And Where to Find Them series.

Rowling however, refused to let Depp go, saying that she knew enough about what happened to keep him on.

Fans were outraged, but now, those who stood by him and Rowling are calling out the haters.

Since Heard's accusations, she has continued to support women by using her own experiences.

She went to the Women's March and delivered a powerful speech to the people.

In fact, Heard has even written pieces on what happened to her, and read a rather intimate one to the Incredible Women gala hosted by Porter Magazine.

"When a woman comes forward to speak about her suffering, about injustice, instead of aid, respect and support, she will be met with hostility, skepticism and shame. Her motives will be questioned and her truth will be ignored." she said.

"It’s no wonder that so many of us feel that we have to keep quiet, or keep our own safety to try to maintain our dignity by quietly enduring."

"But I’m here to tell you there’s no need to make that terrible trade. It isn’t easy to raise your voice, to stand up for yourself and your truth and to do it alone, but our world is changing. Standing shoulder to shoulder as women, we comprise a vast army of voices and we can no longer accept silence."

She worked alongside global ambassadors to ensure that justice was brought to survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault.

Which, obviously, was still extremely kind of her.

Despite all of this, and everything she continued to do, some people just never believed that she was telling the whole truth.

Which some fans are now pointing out again.

And there's an online movement now behind getting Amber Heard removed from "Aquaman 2."

This is what fans perceive as justice, as back when Johnny Depp was accused of abusing his then-wife Amber Heard, his career was devastated.

Now that the tables have turned, fans of Depp want her to get the same treatment.

Heard has yet to comment on any of this.

And she likely won't, unless it's in the court with Depp.

But some people are still sticking by Heard, and refuse to be swayed.

People are rightfully pointing out that it could have been in self defense.

There are a lot of divided opinions going around right now on who to stand by and what to do about the situation.

Some people know that Heard likely won't be removed from Aquaman 2, but will just boycott it anyway.

Heard’s lawyer, Roberta Kaplan, told USA Today that despite what Heard did, it doesn't mean that the same wasn't done to her.

"The fact that a woman fights or talks back does not mean that she has not been the subject of repeated domestic violence and abuse," the statement read.

"It’s a myth to say, as Mr. Depp apparently is implying, that if Ms. Heard slapped him, then she can’t also be a victim."

"That is just not true."

At the end of the day, the only people who know what truly happened are Depp and Heard, and all we can do is speculate.

What do you think? Is an eye for an eye the best tactic here?
