It seems that another artist has taken the opportunity to use the halftime show at the Superbowl for a political statement.
Not that it's a bad thing, considering the eyes of America are on the halftime show.
So what was it this year? Well, this year, they put children in cages.
And what a Superbowl it was! There were thrills, chills and some amazing plays by both teams.
It was a rousing game that will go down in history as one of the best.
It was all about the food, the commercials and of course, that most amazing of Superbowl traditions: the halftime show!
That's where the extra views come in.
When we heard that the 43-year-old Shakira was going to be teaming up with the 50-year-old Jennifer Lopez, we lost our minds.
What if they couldn't bring it like they used to?
What if things were different than they were when we were kids? Thankfully, we were so wrong.
"Two Latinas doing this in this country at this time is just very empowering to us," she said.
"It's very important for us to convey a message of unity and also to show what a relevant force the Latin community is in this country."
But there was one question remaining.
"So excited to share the stage with you tonight @Shakira! β¨πβ¨ Letβs show the world what two little Latin girls can do. #LetsGetLoud #GirlPower #SuperBowlLIV #SBLIV" she captioned it.
The Latinx community was on full display during it, showing what it is to truly be a Latin American.
There was dancing, there was Spanish, Shakira became a meme and JLo did a pole dance routine.
She even posted a video of the moments before she hit the stage.
She walks up with her daughter, she hypes up the people dancing for her, and they even did a prayer.
"All I want my girls, the little girls on stage with me and all over the world to know is how to use their voices and be proud of everything they are. We are proud to recognize that all of us together are what makes this beautiful country truly great."
Let's start with Dee Snyder, the lead singer of Twisted Sister.
He, amongst many others online, was not a fan of the half time show for one very big reason.
There is a lot of discourse going around about it, leaving fans divided on it.
They definitely outnumbered the people who thought that it was not family-friendly enough.
It was something that no one expected, but something that (most people) loved and applauded them for.
Some people didn't catch the reference of the children in cages at first.
Something people have been sounding off on for the entirety of this year.
But there's one important voice we have yet to hear from: the performers themselves.
