Brad Pitt Explains Why He Turned Down 'The Matrix'

It seems that we always hear these stories, Sean Connery is the king of turning down big-time roles, he turned down Lord Of The Rings, and in fact, he also turned down The Matrix. Even Will Smith turned down The Matrix.

But enough talk! We move on to Brad Pitt now.

Two things have been dominating the minds of the people in recent months.

Warner Bros.

And those two things would be: a potential reunion between Brad Pitt and Jennifer Aniston, and the fourth Matrix.

So wouldn't it be super convenient if we could manage to put those two pieces of news together?

Sony Pictures

Recently, Brad Pitt was at the Santa Barbara International Film Festival, where he talked about turning down the role of Neo.

He said about his casting:

Sony Pictures

"I'll give you one, only one, because I really believe it was never mine. It's not mine. It's someone else's and they go and make it. I really do believe in that. I really do. But I did pass on The Matrix. I took the red pill."

He wasn't the only one, either...

Warner Bros.

The Matrix's producer, Lorenzo di Bonaventura, has shared before that Will Smith, Leonardo DiCaprio and even Sandra Bullock (as a female Neo) were all considered for the role before it was given to Keanu Reeves.

But the movie still worked out, so that's all that really matters.
