10+ Fan Theories About Comedy Movies That Might Be True

There are a lot of wacky fan theories circulating around in the world, from your favorite celebs being part of the Illuminati to the Earth being flat.

But we're not here to talk about anything serious. We're here to look at the comedy movies with crazy fan theories that actually make a ton of sense.

1. The Setting Of The Holy Grail

Sony Pictures

We all think we know that Monty Python and The Holy Grail was set in 932 A.D., but look! The two is smaller!

That must mean it takes place... in 8649 AD!

2. Ferris Bueller Isn't Real

Paramount Pictures

This theory is as old as the internet itself, but it tells of the fact that Ferris Bueller may be a figment of Cam's imagination.

A kind of Tyler Durden type, if you will.

3. Kevin McCallister Grows Up Into A Villain

20th Century Fox

The kid from Home Alone grows up to be a villain. But not just any villain...

Jigsaw. From Saw. Think of it: the traps, the sadism?! It sounds like the same person.

4. Seth And Evan Are Popular

Columbia Pictures

The two leads from Superbad may not seem cool, but think about it:

Seth and Evan totally blow it with the girls they like, and yet they always forgive them. People are always calling them the p-word, yet they're celebrated at the party later.

5. Buddy Is A Sociopath

Warner Bros.

You may think Elf is all charm and Christmas cheer, but it's actually a horror.

Take Buddy: all he does throughout the movie is injure children, eat syrup, scream about Santa, make fun of Peter Dinklage's height, and spy on women in the shower.

6. Captain America And Austin Powers Are The Same Character

New Line Cinema

Both are super-secret agents. Both face a bald villain.

Both have a love interest that's related to their old one. Both are frozen in time, both have a hard time adjusting to the future.

7. Aladdin Takes PLace In The Future

Disney

How can Genie know all those pop culture references if Disney's Aladdin takes place in the past?

It needs to be 10,000 years into the future (at least) and it needs to be in a post-apocalypse.

8. Brick Is A Time Traveler`

Dreamworks

You know Brick from Anchorman, don't you?

The really dumb weatherman played by Steve Carell? Well, there's a theory going around he may be a time traveler!

This theory originated on Reddit (because of course it did).

Dreamworks

And there are so many moments to back it up. In the first movie, he pulls out random grenades and tridents during a big fight. He talks about "that time ten years from now".

At one point, he gets a ray gun. He even quotes Ghostbusters (that won't come out for another 4 years in movie time).

9. Sergeant Angel Shot Someone... And He Is Haunted By It.

Universal Pictures

Sergeant Angel from Hot Fuzz is a supercop but before the events of the movie he had only discharged his weapon 3 times.

The fan theory goes that he shot someone in the line of duty, killed them, and now he can't let it go.

10. Sandy Drowns At The Start

Paramount Pictures

This one is from Grease, obviously. There's a line in "Summer Lovin" where Danny Zuko says "I saved her life, she nearly drowned"

There has been a nasty fan theory circulating around the internet...

That Sandy actually drowned before that song and the rest of the movie is her transitioning to the afterlife.

Paramount Pictures

In fact, the car flying into the air at the end is her moving on to heaven.

Pretty dark, huh?

11. The Ghostbusters Caused The Dimensional Rift

Columbia Pictures

That's right, there are some Ghostbusters fans out there that believe that the paranormal team may have inadvertently caused the dimensional rift that threatened our beloved New York City.

They were keeping a whole bunch of supernatural forces all crammed together...

Columbia Pictures

Maybe it created some sort of magnet for ghosts.

And maybe... just maybe... Walter Peck had a point?
