After 300 Games Of 'Words With Friends' They Met IRL, And Cue The Tears

Board games bring people together. It's why family game nights are so popular.

A bit of friendly competition or a good cooperative game can be an important part of a lasting relationship.

Unless you insist on playing Monopoly, which only ever ends in tears.

But don't worry, there's no Monopoly here. Rather, this is a feel-good story about how a game brought together two very different people.

Last summer, 22-year-old Spencer, a rapper from Harlem, was randomly paired with a new opponent for a game of Words with Friends, the popular online word game that totally isn't Scrabble.

After more than a year and 300+ games, a New York pastor named Amy Butler helped the pair meet in person for the first time.

Spencer flew down to Florida to meet Roz, posting the story and photos on Twitter.

The pictures pretty much speak for themselves:

Unsurprisingly, Twitter fell in love with the story, latching onto the genuine friendship between the two very different people.

At the time of this writing, Spencer's tweet has more than 230,000 retweets and over a million likes!

Spencer also shared the stats from their games, showing that he's won 210 games compared to Roz's 114.
