Last month, Matthew McConaughey and Hugh Grant made headlines for their surprising matchmaking plans.

While promoting their new film The Gentlemen with Mashable, they got into talk of setting their parents up with each other.

It all started when the two actors discussed their Christmas plans.

“I’m at home in Texas with my family. Hopefully, my brother and his daughter and definitely my mother," said McConaughey.

He revealed that he had a strained relationship with his mom, 87-year-old Mary Kathlene McCabe, when he first became famous.

“So, you know, I mean look, when I was first got famous, her and I did have a very strained relationship because she wanted to be where I was more than I wanted to be where I was.”

Then, out of nowhere, Grant proposed something very unexpected:

“Would your 87-year-old mother like a nice 91-year-old Englishman?” he said, referring to his father, James Grant.

This prompted Matthew to go into a brief history of his mother’s love life, before making the very important point that “she’s single and vital.”

“Pop moved on in ’92 and then her second man of 19 years just moved on two years ago."

"We should take this up!" Hugh exclaimed.

Matthew simply responded with “here we go.”

Then he added, “Another way of working together, Hugh.”

Well, in case you’re wondering what happened after that, we have an exciting update!

When ET recently sat down with the actors to promote their new film, it was discovered that their parents actually have a date set up!

“His father’s 91, my mother’s 88,” McConaughey told the interviewer, Rachel Smith.

“Yeah, why not? Next week, they’re supposed to meet, and we probably won’t see them for the rest of the night.”

When Hugh was asked about the love connection, he said, “Yeah, we did set them up and it was red-hot.”

Smith then joked with McConaughey about how matchmaking could be his new empire!

If he does take on this new love venture, his only requirement is that his clients are over 85.

Talk about a unique take on Cupid.

Matthew and Grant are more than just partners-in-crime in real-life.

They're also partners-in-crime in their new movie. The Gentlemen.

The movie follows Mickey Pearson (Matthew McConaughey), an American expat with a very profitible marijuana empire in London.

When Mickey looks to cash out of the business forever, this leads to a whole lot of craziness from those who want to take over his domain.

The action-comedy also stars some other big names, such as Charlie Hunnam, Michelle Dockery, and Henry Golding.

During the interview, "ET" also played a fun speed round of who's the most well-groomed and who's the most foul-mouthed.

Most well-groomed went to Henry, although Grant tried to say that it's Charlie.

Charlie, however, disagreed, adding that he's simply a fan of the man-bun.

Most foul-mouthed surprisingly went to Michelle.

"It was shocking," Hugh said about Michelle's habit of swearing.

"I had to ask her to leave sometimes."

But when it comes to the best at match-making, Matthew and Hugh win that title, hands down.

The Gentlemen is out in theatres on January 24!
