10+ Celebs Who Have Problems With Marvel

What? How could anyone possibly have an issue with Marvel? They regularly pump out some of the best movies of all time! Some of the most action-packed flicks, with compelling stories and great, hilarious, dramatic characters!

Methinks some of these people are just party poopers. Get on the train or get off the track, people!

1. Patty Jenkins

She was almost Marvel's first female director!

But alas, she didn't like the script for Thor: The Dark World so much that the two parties (Jenkins and Disney) had to go their separate ways.

2. David Cronenberg

This quote is awesome, so I'll let David Cronenberg speak for himself:

"A superhero movie, by definition, you know, it's comic book. It's for kids. It's adolescent in its core. That has always been its appeal, and I think people who are saying, you know, The Dark Knight Rises is supreme cinema art, I don't think they know what the f--- they're talking about."

3. Christian Bale

IMDb

Batman has never come out and explicitly said that he hates the Marvel movies, he's just apparently never seen one.

So we have to assume he at least takes some issue with them (but hey, we could be wrong).

4. Jason Statham

IMDb

He may have never been in a Marvel movie, but the actor still has a lot to say about the big blockbusters.

He had one particular part of them he didn't like...

He mostly took issue with... how they do the stunts?

IMDb

"I could take my grandma and put her in a cape and then put her in a green screen, and they'll have stunt doubles come in and do all the action."

5. Terrence Howard

Marvel

Remember when Terrence Howard was Captain James Rhodes? Yeah, he hates the people that "made" him give up his role now.

Apparently, they took $7 million from him and gave it to RDJ. He hasn't worked with Marvel or RDJ since.

6. Mickey Rourke

Marvel

Mickey Rourke hates Marvel movies.

Apparently, a lot of his improved dialogue was left on the cutting room floor after Iron Man 2, and he's still pretty bitter about it.

He takes every opportunity to rag on them...

Marvel

He did an interview with Crave Online where he talked about how he was pissed at "some nerd" executive at Marvel who "churns out mindless comic book movies".

He must have been talking to some directors on this list.

7. Edward Norton

Marvel

Despite having played The Hulk once, it seems that the critically acclaimed actor is now done with Marvel movies.

Why? He didn't want to get stuck:

"I think you can sort of do anything once, but if you do it too many times, it can become a suit that's hard to take off, in other peoples' eyes."

8. Idris Elba

Marvel

The actor who played Heimdall apparently had a bad time with all of the makeup, as well as having to make cameos in movies like Avengers: Age of Ultron.

He liked the experience but probably won't go back.

9. Natalie Portman

Marvel

You may be surprised to hear this one, considering she is supposed to be a part of Thor: Love and Thunder as a female version of the iconic Norse God...

But she has talked trash about the movies before. Well, maybe not trash, but she has put them down:

Marvel

"As far as I know, I'm done. I mean, I don't know if maybe one day they'll ask for an Avengers 7 or whatever, I have no idea. But as far as I know, I'm done, but it was a great thing to be a part of."

10. Edgar Wright

YouTube | Wochit Entertainment

He was supposed to do Ant-Man, but according to the director:

"The most diplomatic answer is I wanted to make a Marvel movie but I don't think they really wanted to make an Edgar Wright movie"

11. Ava DuVernay

IMDb

Betcha can't guess why this famous director decided not to do Black Panther. If you said "creative differences" or "they didn't want to do an Ava DuVernay" movie, then you are correct!
