'The Witcher' Almost Had Its Own 'Game Of Thrones' Coffee Cup Moment

Jeez, already? It has literally been one season! Game Of Thrones actually made it through 8 before the showrunners stopped giving a hoot!

Oh well... I guess when you're shot out by Netflix as quickly as possible you're going to have some slip-ups along the way.

Woah! Did you see that?

Netflix

It's a fantasy series! And it's on Netflix!

Well, it's got to be one of those low-budget, cruddy affairs like Once Upon A Time or Merlin.

No! Believe it or not, it's actually good!

It's 'The Witcher'.

Netflix

And so far, fans have declared it "a jam".

It's got action, it's got fantasy monsters, a lot like that other series people stopped caring about earlier this year... What was that called again...

Oh, that's right, 'Game Of Thrones'.

HBO

And the reason people stopped caring is that the showrunners stopped caring, exemplified especially in the infamous "coffee cup" scene.

But did you know that the people behind The Witcher almost had one of those mess up scenes?

I'll let showrunner Lauren S. Hissrich do the talking:

Netflix

She said about the coffee cup incident:

"No, I mean, it’s interesting. I was in VFX a couple of weeks ago, and someone’s keen eyes – we were watching something for something else, and someone said, ‘Are those car headlights?’ And you’re like, ‘Yep, those are car headlights.' There are not a lot of cars in The Witcher. So, you know, the good news is that by the time an episode makes it to air, hundreds of people have watched it. And so we hope that there is nothing like that."

We do too!
