Fans Are Accusing Kim Kardashian Of Cultural Appropriation— Again

Oh, Kimberly. Another day, another Kardashian blackfishing accusation, and this time, it's causing major controversy.

Blackface and cultural appropriation can fall under the category of "blackfishing."

According to the Independent, blackfishing can be described as "someone accused of pretending to be black on social media by using makeup, hair products and in some cases, surgery to drastically change their appearance."

Kim Kardashian is no stranger to being accused of darkening her skin color.

Her Instagram is filled with super tanned photos of herself.

Fans have commented on Kim's tanned photos in the past, accusing her of cultural appropriation.

She has also sported box braids multiple times in the past and has received a heavy amount of backlash for it.

And now, her latest magazine cover for "7HOLLYWOOD" is coming under fire.

"Wearing Mugler Private Archives for @7hollywood_mag," Kim captioned her post.

"WHAT A DREAM!"

Fans were not happy with Kim's cover and vocalized their concerns in her comments.

"It's upsetting to real women of color because they don't have the PRIVILEGE of going back and fourth and washing off their brown skin when it doesn't work for them."

While it's assumed Kim didn't select the exact hair and makeup for the shoot, I think it's safe to say we wish she was more mindful of the image she's portraying.

It's clear from the social media response that her actions of cultural appropriation are hurtful to so many people.

"You just love mocking us black women," one woman wrote.

I scrolled past the picture and didn't even register it was Kim, tbh.

Now, a source close to Kim has defended the magazine cover.

Speaking to Page Six the source revealed it was the lighting on set.

“It’s the lighting that makes her look darker in this specific image,” says the source, who was on set at the time of the shoot.

“There are multiple covers and images from this shoot where the lighting looks more natural," the source continued.

“People are so quick to find the negative in everything and also often forget that she is of Armenian descent," they concluded.
