Johnny Depp Is Producing Michael Jackson Musical Told From The Perspective Of His Glove

When it comes to signature Michael Jackson pieces, his sequin glove is by far one of the most iconic.

Now, a new musical told from the perspective of Jackson's signature glove will be hitting the stage in January of 2020.

And, it's being produced by Johnny Depp.

"For the Love of Glove: An Unauthorised Musical Fable About the Life of Michael Jackson, as Told by His Glove" was written by playwright Julien Nitzberg.

The musical is described as a "fresh, revisionist look at the strange forces that shaped Jackson and the scandals that bedeviled him."

Jackson’s sequin glove is the story's hero, as well as being a "musically-inclined alien eager to take over humanity."

Yep, you read that right.

Nitzberg and Depp has been known to each other professionally for years.

About play, Nitzberg told Page Six: “A major TV network wanted me to write a [Jackson] movie... but the question came up [about] how to deal with the child-abuse allegations. [So] I said, how’s this? Everything MJ has been accused of has actually been caused by his glove, which is actually an alien from outer space [and] feeds on virgin boy blood. They laughed and said, ‘can you do the normal version?’"

“It was morally kind of repugnant to me to do,” Nitzberg said.

“I turned down a really big paycheck.”

Twitter's reactions have been... wild, to say the least.

I have *personally* never heard of a musical from the perspective of an inanimate object before.

I think it safe to say we're all just a little confused.

Understandably.

"For The Love of Glove" will not be the only Michael Jackson musical hitting the stage in 2020.

"MJ: The Musical" is premiering on Broadway this summer.

It appears the sexual assault allegations brought forward by Wade Robson and James Safechuck in the documentary "Leaving Neverland" have not deterred any Jackson themed projects.

Leaving Neverland won the Creative Arts Emmy for Outstanding Documentary or Nonfiction Special.

"For the Love of Glove" will open on January 25th, 2020 at LA’s Carl Sagan-Ann Druyan Theater.
