10+ Messed Up Christmas Movies

These are the Christmas movies that aren't all that normal. They're kind of messed up, whether or not you have to think about it or not.

Sure, some of them were made a long time ago, but that doesn't mean that makes it okay!

Especially now that we know better.

'It's A Wonderful Life'

IMDb

The worst part of this messed up movie is what happens to Mary in the alternate reality where she doesn't marry George.

She becomes... a spinster who works at the library! And it's treated like a fate worse than death!

'White Christmas'

IMDb

There are some cool odes to minstrel shows in this movie.

It seems like a lot of fun until you realize that minstrel shows were a racist form of entertainment to make fun of African Americans.

'A Christmas Story'

IMDb

Besides the fact that they're giving this irresponsible kid a BB Gun, remember the scene at the Chinese restaurant? Where they do funny accents and of course, eat some duck?

Mmm... Kinda racist!

'Love Actually'

IMDb

Ugh. Mark. Just thinking about the way he tries to steal his best friend's fiancee makes me sick to my stomach. And she totally goes for it too!

And that cringey sign scene!

'Bad Santa'

IMDb

We know that it's supposed to be messed up, alright? It wouldn't be called Bad Santa if it wasn't a little messed up.

But the grossness of the character, the way he treats kids and the sexism are definitely messed up.

'National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation'

IMDb

This movie is classic and hilarious, but whenever I watch the scene at the mall I cringe a little bit.

Clark, baby, you're married to Beverly D'Angelo! Is that not enough?

'Scrooged'

IMDb

There's one scene that always sticks out in my mind when I think of the words: "messed up" and that's the scene where the woman at the office party photocopies her butt and hands it out to the male employees.

What the heck?

'Oliver!'

IMDb

Even though it's 50 years old (insert the necessary "it was a different time" phrase from people on the internet) there are some problematic moments.

Particularly during the "Oom-pah-pah" scene, where people are slapping Nancy's bottom and looking up her skirt.

'The Holiday'

IMDb

The relationship between Iris and Jasper Bloom is the messed up part here.

He is practically stalking her, showing up at her house unannounced, and calling her when she asked him not to do so.

'Bridget Jones's Diary'

IMDb

This movie doesn't fit in at all in the #MeToo era. Bridget's boss is constantly flirting with her, sending her naughty e-mails and whatnot.

And there's a lot of fat-shaming as well.

'Elf'

IMDb

The one messed up scene in this otherwise pretty tame movie is when Buddy sneaks into the washroom to listen to Jovie sing.

Sure he doesn't know any better, but we sure do.

'Susan Slept Here'

IMDb

Sure, it was made in 1954, but... But isn't this whole movie about a 35-year-old man marrying a 17-year-old girl?

It may have been cool back then, but these days it is not kosher.

'Jingle All The Way'

IMDb

The way Phil Hartman's (Rest In Peace, not speaking ill of you Phil, you beautiful man) character is a total creep in this movie?

He makes unwanted passes at Arnold's wife... Weird.

'Frosty The Snowman'

IMDb

Does anyone else realize that Frosty technically steals the hat from the magician?

And the magician has every right to want it back? After all, he is "busy, busy, busy!"
