Tom Hanks Reported To Be Related To Mister Rogers: Source

A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood is one of those movies that everyone will watch or want to watch (and end up watching).

It details the amazing life of Mister Rogers, who was a national icon for many. And he is being played by anther national icon: Tom Hanks.

But what is even more interesting is the fact that these two are distantly related.

Tom Hanks, who is starring as Mister Rogers in 'A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood', can honestly say that he deserved the part.

Sure, partially because he's one of the best actors of our time, but also because he's a distant relative of Mister Rogers himself!

Interestingly enough, Fred Rogers' great-great-great-great grandfater William served in the Navy but was later captured.

Meanwhile, Tom Hanks’ great-great-great-great-grandfather fought at Chesapeake Bay.

Ancestry reports that the two are actually 6th cousins!

They reportedly share the same great-great-great-great-great grandfather who was named Johannes Mefford.

It's true what they say: it really is a small world, after all.

Ancestry said in a statement:

“So, Rogers and Hanks not only share the same ancestor, they also descend from two brothers who fought for America’s independence,”

How cool is that? Seriously, what are the chances?
