Anti-Vaxxers Flipped Off Doctors For Quarantining Their Son At The Hospital

So, everybody pretty much has their mind made up on whether they trust medical science or not - and they really should trust medical science. But the misinformation campaign over vaccines has been nothing if not persistent, and sadly, it costs lives.

The really unfortunate part is that it sometimes costs the lives of those who don't even get to make a choice on whether to get vaccinated or not.

At particular risk are people who are immunocompromised, who for one reason or another can't be vaccinated.

Maybe they're going through chemotherapy or maybe they have an autoimmune disorder, but whatever the reason, their immune systems just can't fight off infections well, and vaccinations won't help.

One Reddit user shared a social media post from a couple of anti-vaxxer parents who clearly didn't get that memo, and don't seem to care much.

The pair made their feelings quite clear after taking their son to the ER.

In the screenshotted post, one of the parents writes that "We had to come to the ER after an emergency with my son falling at the playground. We were questioned about our vaccine choices, then it was brought up 3 times on how we should give him a tetanus shot."

They also mentioned that they found eventually themselves in isolation.

As they said, "And then 6 hours into our visit we were ‘isolated’ in a room with gowns and gloves so we don’t ‘infect’ any of the immunocompromised patients. our response. Our bub is ok, had a little surgery and he is on the mend."

You would think that, if they took their kid to a hospital to get him checked out, they might have a good attitude toward medical science.

But obviously no, not so much. And apparently, that isn't unique to these parents.

Another user outlined their mother's response to illnesses.

As they related, "My mother is anti-vax and I’ve asked her what would you do if your child broke a limb? She responded with hospital visits. I asked her what about infection, her response was how serious and if it’s a really bad one hospital but if not then vitamins and oils."

That user went on to explain how her mother would shut down when confronted with the reality of the situation.

"I asked how would she know if it’s serious since she’s just a elementary school drop out with no education or medical knowledge."

But while her reply was passionate, it also didn't make much sense.

As this user went on to say, "She got mad and said the AMA is all a bunch of liars and just trying to poison everyone. I asked her why seek medical attention at all I you think they want to poison us, she just got more mad and didn’t really have an answer."

Finding a way to break through to anti-vaxxers seems next impossible when faced with reactions like that.

But of course, it's important to try, because lives depend on it. Just look at the anti-vax parents and their lack of concern for anyone else in the hospital, willing to put all those other lives at risk over their misinformed beliefs.

With that in mind, it's hard to feel too sorry for the anti-vaxxers here.

Plus, the immunocompromised patients in that hospital must have been much more thankful to the medical professionals than the parents who flipped off the doctors and nurses who cared for their son after his injury.
