Rapper T.I. Says He Goes To The Doctor With His Daughter To Confirm 'Her Hymen Is Still Intact'

If you're anything like me, this headline probably made you say, "Um, what?"

And then "Wait, WHAT?" again.

Rapper T.I. just gave an explosive interview where he revealed an... unusual practice he goes through.

For the uninitiated, T.I. is a rapper.

He's best known for his hits like ' Whatever You Like' and 'Live Your Life.' He also helped start Iggy Azalea's career, but since then he hasn't done much to get him in the headlines.

Until now.

T.I. just explained that he accompanies his 18-year-old daughter Deyjah to her gynecologist appointments.

In an episode of the Ladies Like Us podcast, T.I. said, when asked if he'd had the sex talk with his daughter, "Not only have we had the conversation. We have yearly trips to the gynecologist to check her hymen."

"Yes, I go with her."

"So we’ll go and sit down and the doctor comes and talk, and the doctor’s maintaining a high level of professionalism," T.I. said. "He’s like, ‘You know, sir, I have to, in order to share information’ — I’m like, 'Deyjah, they want you to sign this so we can share information."

He said the doctor explained there are other ways that the hymen can be broken besides sex.

"And so then they come and say, ‘Well, I just want you to know that there are other ways besides sex that the hymen can be broken like bike riding, athletics, horseback riding, and just other forms of athletic physical activity.'"

"So I say, ‘Look, Doc, she don’t ride no horses, she don’t ride no bike, she don’t play no sports.'"

"'Just check the hymen, please, and give me back my results expeditiously.'"

T.I. then volunteered the information that "as of her 18th birthday, her hymen is still intact."

There has been a ton of backlash against T.I. for these comments.

One Twitter user wrote,"So instead of celebrating the fact that his child lived another year, TI spends his time hyper-fixating on whether or not her hymen is intact? This is so overwhelmingly weird and toxic and he needs to be stopped."

As someone pointed out, this could be embarrassing for his daughter.

I know if I even heard my father say the word "hymen" out loud I would be mortified, let alone saying something in this context.

A lot of people pointed out the double standard.

T.I. didn't mention anything about his sons in this interview. Athough he did say after his daughter's 16th birthday, he left a sticky note on her door telling her she had a gynecologist appointment the next morning.

Some people don't think the story is true.

People are finding it hard to believe that a doctor would even perform a hymen check in this day and age, or that the results would be given to her father. It would raise some questions as to why he would say it, though.

Taking your daughter to a regular gynecologist appointment is a good thing, as some people noted.

If being concerned about his daughter's health and making sure she was informed about her body was all that was going on, a lot of people would probably be praising T.I. right now.

Deyjah herself has been liking some pretty telling tweets about this story.

As this Twitter user screenshotted, Deyjah has been liking tweets implying that T.I.'s behavior is controlling and strange.

Poor girl!

What do you think?

Is T.I. just being a concerned father, or is this behavior that definitely needs to stop?
