Clarkson Cuts Deep in a Message to Her Ex-husband

On the Thursday, March 30, episode of The Kelly Clarkson Show, Kelly thrilled her audience by adding her twist to Gayle's hit song Abcdefu's lyrics.

In Kelly's revamped lyrics, she sang, "Forget you and your dad/And the fact that you got half." She also sang, And my broken heart/Turned that s—t into art."

Kelly's revamped lyrics differed greatly from Gayle's original lyrics, which read, "F—k you and your mom/ And your sister and you job / And your broke-ass car/ And that s—t you call art."

The American Idol alum's lyrics were seemingly inspired by her tumultuous split from her ex-husband, Brandon.

Kelly tied the knot with Brandon on October 20, 2013. However, their marriage came to an end after seven years when she filed for divorce in June 2020.

Following Kelly's file for divorce, she and Brandon entered into an intense battle over their assets, which lasted for two years until they settled in March 2022.

As part of the divorce settlement, Kelly agreed to pay her ex-husband $1.3 million. In addition, Brandon would receive $46,000 monthly in child support from Kelly.

The divorce settlement also awarded Brandon $115,000 per month in spousal support, which would end in January 2024.

During the divorce proceedings, another niggling issue between Kelly and Brandon was their Montana Ranch. However, Kelly eventually won on that front as the property was awarded to her though Brandon was allowed to live there temporarily as long as he paid his ex-wife $12,500 a month for rent.

During their seven-year marriage, Kelly and Brandon welcomed two children, an eight-year-old daughter named River and a six-year-old son named Remington.

The divorce settlement ended with Kelly receiving primary custody of her and Brandon's two kids.

Kelly recently announced that she would release a new album titled Chemistry soon. The mother of two also disclosed that the album took close to three years to complete.

The award-winning songstress posted a video on Instagram in which she noted that her upcoming album "is definitely the arc of an entire relationship." Kelly added that a whole relationship shouldn't be "just brought down to one thing."

Kelly further revealed that her upcoming album was a mixture of the good, the bad, and the ugly.

In the Instagram video, Kelly also explained how her divorce from Brandon inspired the title of her upcoming album.

The 40-year-old songstress explained that she was trying to find a word that could describe everything because she didn't want people to think she was just coming out with one or two emotions.

Going on, Kelly explained why "Chemistry" is the perfect title for her upcoming album, saying, "Chemistry can be a really amazing, sexy, cool, fun thing, but it can also be very bad for you."

There is no release date given for Kelly's upcoming album, though it is certain to be released later in the year.

Based on what Kelly described and how she altered the lyrics of Gayle's hit song to shade her ex-husband, fans can expect fireworks from her upcoming album.
