Gwyneth Paltrow's Ski Crash Trial Turns Into Must-See TV

Everyone was tuned in to watch Gwyneth Paltrow’s eight-day trial as she appeared to beat the ski crash allegations against optometrist Terry Sanderson. The incident took place back in Park City in 2016.

Gwyneth Paltrow prevails in the court battle over ski crash claims with retired optometrist Terry Sanderson. He sued the actress for liability in a collision on Utah Mountain. 

Paltrow showed up to the hearings looking as chic as ever. She walked with confidence and had a calm demeanor throughout the proceedings.

The ski trial is one of the most famous cases, surpassing Oscars' viewership. According to Variety, nearly 30 million people tuned in to watch the trial on Facebook, YouTube, and TikTok.

The Law and Crime Network live-streamed the trial on YouTube, gaining 16.5 million views. The prosecution also had 7.4 million views on Facebook and 4.2 million on TikTok. 

The views on social media are nearly 30 million, making it one of the most watched celebrity trials. It is exclusive to the views from Court TV and Live Press.

Paltrow was getting sued by Terry Sanderson because he claimed that she crashed into him while skiing back in 2016. He claimed to have broken ribs and a concussion, leading to long-term brain trauma. 

The trial went on for a week as millions watched the courtroom battle. Paltrow was found not guilty of the crash. 

The jury returned after two hours and twenty minutes to claim that Sanderson was at fault for the accident. They found him 100% guilty of crashing into Paltrow and causing her harm. 

With the verdict in favor of the actress, she will now receive the damages cost of $1, as requested. The legal price will be decided later on by her team, which Sanderson has to pay. 

As the Hollywood actress left the courtroom, she bid farewell to Terry Sanderson politely. She told Sanderson, “I wish you well”, and then went. 

In an email, Paltrow said: "I felt that acquiescing to a false claim compromised my integrity. I am pleased with the outcome, and I appreciate all of the hard work of Judge Holmberg and the jury, and thank them for their thoughtfulness in handling this case."

Sanderson, on the other hand, was not happy with the results. He claimed that the trial was not based on facts, and he was characterized wrongfully in the courtroom.

Sanderson Initially Planned To Sue For $3 Million. The 76-year-old optometrist had initially sued the star for $3 million, which was then brought down to $300,000. Paltrow countersued and claimed that he had crashed into her.  

The actress claimed she was being sued due to her wealth and fame by Sanderson. Her counter-suing only asked for $1 and legal fees as the cost of damages incurred by the star.

The trial is one of the most bizarre trials in the history of celebrity court cases. It not only gave Paltrow a legal win but also improved her image.
