Adam Sandler Weighs in on Chris Rock's Comedy Special

Will Smith made headlines in 2022 when he slapped comedian Chris Rock at the 94th Academy Awards during the latter's presentation for Best Documentary Feature. It's been a year since the incident, but people have still not gotten over the King Richard actor hitting Chris. Adam Sandler recently weighed in on the matter and had this to say.

Adam Sandler recently reflected on Chris Rock's Netflix comedy special Selective Outrage, released on March 4. The actor addressed last year's Oscar slap and the ensuing ruckus from the controversial incident.

Adam Sandler Enjoyed Chris Rock's Stand-Up Special 

The 50 First Dates star said he thoroughly enjoyed watching the stand-up special. He even placed it right next to the Super Bowl, saying it was just as exciting as the popular sports show. "It was one of the best experiences. I thought it was amazing," Adam said. 

Adam Sandler Watched The Special Twice

The Uncut Gems star revealed that after thinking about Chris' special through the weekend, he watched the entire show in his kitchen. Adam also confessed that he immediately rewatched it again while laughing heartily.

Adam Sandler Doesn't Think Chris Rock Went Too Far

The Hustle actor also shared his thoughts about whether or not Chris took things too far with his joke about Jada Pinkett Smith. He told People, "Never thought that in my life. I thought it was unbelievably relaxed, funny, thoughtful. Crushed it and was real to himself."

Adam Talks About Cancel Culture

Chris' comedy addressed cancel culture, and The Pixels star further weighed in on the delicate topic. Talking about whether or not cancel culture is hurting modern comedy, Adam replied, "I don't know. The comedy I'm watching right now, I'm loving."

Rob Schneider Thinks Chris Is Brilliant  

Meanwhile, Adam's friend and fellow Saturday Night Live alumni Rob Schneider also lauded Chris' special. He told the outlet of the comedian, "He's outrageous. He's incredible. He really does set the bar."

Rob Praises Chris' Wit

The entertainer also praised Chris's penchant for using satire. Rob stated that Chris has the ability to accurately and hilariously discuss topical or complex issues reasonably. 

Rob Schneider Thinks Chris Changed Comedy 

Rob further praised Chris for his talent, which he says allows Chris to "subvert [everyone] to his point of view." He also claimed that Chris changed the face of modern comedy 25 years ago. 

Chris Rock Addresses Jada And Will Smith's Open Marriage

Meanwhile, during his stand-up comedy special, Chris Rock waded into Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith's marriage. He referenced Jada's 2020 admission that she had an "entanglement" with singer August Alsina while she and Will took a break. Will and Jada would later discuss the revelation on Jada's Red Table Talk show.

Chris Says Will Smith Is Selective With His Outrage 

The 58-year-old also accused Will of practicing "selective outrage." He claimed that the Men in Black actor attacked him when he had nothing to do with Will and Jada's open marriage or entanglement. Chris said, "Everybody that really knows I had nothing to do with that s***. I didn't have any 'entanglements'."

Chris Tried To Get In Touch With Will

Chris claimed "everybody in the world" turned on Will after the "entanglement" revelation calling him a b****'.  The Spiral actor revealed that he tried to get in touch with Will afterward, but the actor didn't pick up.

The Everybody Hates Chris star also expressed his frustration over getting hit by Will during his comedy special. Repeatedly branding the Aladdin star a b****, he quipped, "Everybody. And who's he hit? Me, a n**** he knows he can beat. That is some b****-a** s***."

Will Smith Slapped Chris For Making Fun Of Jada 

The infamous Oscar slap happened because Chris made a joke about Jada's shaved head. The TV personality said that he was "looking forward" to seeing Jada in G.I. Jane

Not only did Will Smith slap Chris Rock, but he also yelled at the comedian after returning to his front-row seat. The I am Legend star yelled at Chris to keep his "wife's f***ing name out [his] mouth."

Will later apologized to Chris and his fellow nominees for his actions when he collected his Best Actor award. He also penned an apology to Chris on Instagram.

Will's actions resulted in a furor, and in the outrage that followed, the actor was forced to resign from the Academy. They also banned him for 10 years.
