Matt Damon Marks His Father's Memory with a New Tattoo

The Jason Bourne star actor has decided to pay tribute to his late father, Kent Damon, who passed away six years ago at the age of 75 years.

52-year-old Oscar-winner, Matt Damon, got celebrity tattoo artist, Winterstone, to ink the word "NOMAD" on his right shoulder. The word refers to the name of Kent Damon's boat, which his father got from spelling Damon's name backward.

While Kent Damon might be the father to Matt Damon, the late father was also an American actor born in August 1942. Sadly, he passed away at 75 in December 2017 in Massachusetts.

Math Damon and his father, Kent, had the opportunity of sharing the big screen before his passing. Both actors starred in 2003's Stuck on You movie, which Matt is grateful for.

Daniel Winter (or Winterstone) shared the big news of him tattooing Matt Damon on his Instagram page. In his comment, he referred to Matt as his idol, writing, "Got to tattoo an idol of mine! Such a cool job to have great experiences like these. #mattdamon"

Winterstone is a well-known tattoo artist among A-list celebrities. He has tattooed big names like Lady Gaga, John Legend, Chrissy Teigen, Joe Jona, Sophie Turner, Kristin Cavallari, and many others.,

Still, in his comment about having to tattoo Matt Damon, he shared with his followers the meaning of the ink while referring to it as rad. Writing, "The tattoo has great meaning! For his late father. We tattooed NOMAD which was his father's boat and also Says DAMON backward! Pretty rad tattoo with so much Meaning!"

As the brief video post from Winterstone continued, Avicii's The Nights song could be heard playing in the background as he showed clips of his tattoo moment with Matt Damon. 

One of the clips in the video montage showed moments of Damon and Winter sharing a laugh as they had a good time together. 

The Ford v Ferrari actor wasn't the only one on the receiving end of the tattoo gun. Winterstone also shared a snap on his Instagram story showing Damon giving him a tattoo. He wrote a caption reading, "Oh forgot to mention. Mr. Damon gave me his first tattoo. A small universe a.k.a. a dot!"

Daniel Winter and Matt Damon previously had an inking session together back in 2019. The Golden Globe winner had Winterstone tattoo his four daughters' names, Alexia, Isabella, Gia, and Stella, on his right shoulder — sitting below his new ink, NOMAD.

On the same right shoulder, Damon apparently got "Lucy" tattooed there in honor of his wife Luciana Barroso seven years ago. The tattoo sits below NOMAD and above his daughters' names.

Damon explained how he got "Lucy" tattooed on his arm and said it was his wife's idea for them to get tattoos. In his words, "On a whim, my wife said, 'We're going to get tattoos today,' so I got a tattoo of her name."

That's not all for Damon's right shoulder! Stealing the remaining space on his right shoulder are wild tattoos, including the eye of a compass and multiple stars scattered around.

Commenting under Winterstone's Instagram post, Debra Messing wrote, "Who new he [Damon] had so many!!!!!" And Brazilian Model Alessandra Ambrosia simply dropped a raising hand emoji 🙌.

Matt Damon's BFF, Ben Affleck, has yet to drop any comment regarding the new ink, and he might not. Similar to when Damon didn't publicly comment on Affleck's polarizing ink in the past.

Damon and Affleck are expected to reunite on the big screen following the release of their highly anticipated new film, Air. The close friends have not shared the screen since 2021's The Last Duel and the unforgettable Good Will Hunting movie.

Air is expected to see Damon play the role of Sonny Vaccaro, a salesman for Nike, while Affleck plays Phil Knight, Nike's co-founder/CEO. The movie is set to revolve around Michael Jordan and how his partnership with Nike revolutionized the sporting world.

Hollywood star actor Matt Damon will also feature in Christopher Nolan's Oppenheimer film, playing the role of Leslie Grove Jr., the head leader for The Manhattan Project. The movie will hit the theaters on July 21st.
