Matthew Lawrence Reveals How He And Chilli Found Each Other

Matthew Lawrence, 43, can't stop talking about his new girlfriend, Chilli Thomas, 52, whom he started dating in 2022. 

The Boy Meets World alumnus opened up about meeting Chilli on a last-minute flight. 

Speaking with Entertainment Tonight, he reiterated his love for the TLC singer. 

The lovebirds’ paths intertwined when they were on the same flight to Atlanta. But what was meant to be a usual flight became a love passage as Michael and Chilli decide to keep in contact with each other. After the flight meeting, they also met at an event where Matthew spoke on a panel. 

Matthew revealed that he and Chilli want children, and it's always been the game plan. He further explains that they are trying to have one now.

Matthew Lawrence had previously been married to Cheryl Burke, a skilled dancer. The couple got hitched in May 2019, and their marriage almost three lasted three years. They had planned to have kids before they split, but it just never happened.

On February 18, 2022, Burke filed for divorce and claimed that the couple had irreconcilable differences, as reported by US Weekly.

On February 22, 2022, the dancer posted on Instagram, telling her fans about the divorce.

In her statement, she wrote, "I know I have always said I’m an open book with you guys, I do strive to be, and in writing this I’ve realized there really isn’t an easy way to announce that my marriage is ending." She continued, "I hope you can understand that I will not be commenting any further at this time and am asking for understanding and privacy. Thank you all for all the kind words and support you’ve given me.”

Matthew Lawrence reveals that he has never experienced the kind of feeling he is currently having with Chili in any romantic relationship. So, she is an exceptional human being and dear to his heart.

“I wish more people on the planet were like her. We'd be much better off,” Michael gushes. Michael considers Chilli to be a role model girl for all those out there, and at the moment, he is head over heels for her

The fans are super happy for the couple and were anticipating the duo to make things official. The couple seemed to have taken their time to know each other on a personal level well and had started things at a slow but sure pace.

It wasn't love at first sight like they paint it in movies. Instead, it was a genuine friendship for half a year, mostly long-distance — talking on the phone, knowing and learning about each other, and seeing each other when possible.

The relationship has moved from platonic to romantic. The Mrs. Doubtfire actor has met Chilli’s family and her son Troy, 25, whom she had with an ex-partner, Dallas Austin. 

In the earlier days of TLC, Chilli sparked a romance with mega-producer Dallas Austin. Their relationship was quite serious, and they even had a son together.

However, things went south between the duo, and they called it quits. Austin believes Chilli cheated on him with Usher, a friend. Austin didn't take the breakup well and wanted to kill everyone. In his words, he couldn't fathom why his friend, Usher, would do that to him.

“It was crazy because when I moved to Miami, I just had to get out of Atlanta, too crazy. So, I moved to Miami, I set up in a house, me and her first broke up then and I started working on music in Miami in this house…”

Austin disclosed that while he was looking forward to resolving things and getting back together, Chilli had moved on, only for her to hook up with Usher, even though we had a kid together.

This is not a romance rumor coined because the duo was spotted together. News of Chilli and Matthew’s relationship was disclosed in January after TMZ disclosed that the couple had taken things to the next level right before Thanksgiving. 

The twosome spent Christmas and Thanksgiving together in Atlanta, where Matthew met Chilli’s family. At the end of December, the pair also confirmed fans' speculations about their romance as they shared a video of them dancing in pajamas on Instagram. 

Their Instagram caption for the video was overlaid with three hashtags: “#newyearsshenanigans #onesiegang #wecute.”

Christal Jordan, Chilli’s representative, corroborated the romance to People. This makes it obvious that both of them are madly in love with each other, and are literally setting couple goals for all of us out there.

She revealed that she has been with Chilli since 2015 and has never seen her so in love. “She is glowing, and they are cute together.”
