A Look at Tom Cruise's Changing Appearance through the Years

Tom has had an illustrious career where he starred in notable films and has molded pop culture for a while now. With his top-notch performances in critically-acclaimed films, he has made a lot of iconic appearances in movies like Top Gun, Mission: Impossible, Jerry Maguire, Risky Business, and much more. Subsequent to getting roles in Endless Love and The Outsiders, the star appeared in Risky Business. Given his chiseled jawline, eyes green as forest, and dark brunette hair crowning his head, Cruise was bound to rise to popularity.

While we believe that people on the screen belong to another realm, typically enough, they have similar reactions to novel situations. For instance, Cruise claims to have been weirded out by fame at the beginning of his career.

During his initial years as an actor, Tom got his most famous role in Top Gun, which certainly excelled his fame.

In a conversation with Interview Magazine, Cruise states, "I'm really very private, in my own world. Suddenly I was someone walking on the street, and people were looking at me, and I was thinking, Jesus, is something hanging out of my nose?"

"It took time to get adjusted to it. It was such a perfect time to do Legend in England. Everyone is looking at you, and somehow just moving your hand seems so much more exaggerated."

Married to the actress Nicole Kidman for almost a decade, this relationship ended in 2001.

By the end of the era of the Millenials, Cruise’s name was set in stone for being a hotshot actor! His endless fame accompanied his slightly longer hair (which made girls swoon over him!).

Halfway through his career, Tom Cruise shaved off a couple of inches of his (precious) hair, opting to sport a crew cut. This decade remains one of the busiest ones for the actor; movie after movie, marriage to Katie Holmes, the birth of his child, and heartbreaking divorce.

Attending a recent baseball game in 2021, Cruise was subjected to questionable looks from everyone else with his incredibly swollen and puffed-up face.

From having a sharp, angled face to having a puffy face, the Top Gun actor had multiple theories thrown at him.

Several experts believe that Tom’s face resulted from “excessive fillers” and “post-procedure swelling.” On the contrary, some argued that the actor could have gained weight.

Soon enough, the reason behind Tom’s puffy face became evident. Tom had gone through multiple surgeries and that was thought to be the main reason behind the fat that had accumulated on his face.

In 2022, the star’s appearance at Cannes Film Festival aroused everyone’s curiosity. Tom not only seemed to have lost weight, but he was also back to his sleek look.

The Mission Impossible actor attended the event with his usual slim appearance. One thing is for sure: the star did have some surgery!

Tom made a comeback the previous year with Top Gun: Maverick, his first movie in four years. The movie was the highest-grossing flick of his career, earning over $1 billion at the box office and internationally, and several critics thought it was an upgrade over the first one.

Tom has recently been working hard to complete Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning parts one and two and is rocking longer hair again.

Well, Tom doesn't seem to have any retirement plans from acting. He's still one of the most famous and richest actors of the modern-day era, and he currently has plans to work with director Christopher McQuarrie.
