Bret Michaels was feeling “victorious” despite his health challenges.

The Poison frontman is still actively performing and living the rockstar life at 59 (he has a tour coming up this year called Parti-Gras), which is amazing considering he’s been battling illness since he was 6.

He Performed Ahead Of The Super Bowl

Michaels performed at a concert at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona last Friday ahead of Super Bowl LVII, and sat down with ET’s Kevin Frazier at SirusXM Radio Row to give a positive health update.

“I’ve been a diabetic since I was 6 years old and I take five shots a day,” he told the outlet. “I feel good. I work hard. I’m blessed. I got great people in my life -- family, friends, good doctors that have gotten me through the brain hemorrhage and a couple crazy things.”

Happy To Be At The Super Bowl

Looking happy and healthy, the Pennsylvania native gushed about being at the Super Bowl.

“[W]e were just out playing at the very stadium that the Super Bowl’s at and we lit up. It was unbelievable,” he said.

His Brain Hemorrhage

Michaels had a near-fatal brain hemorrhage back in 2010 that resulted from an onstage accident while he was performing at the 2009 Tony Awards.

While recovering from his brain hemorrhage, the Every Rose Has Its Thorn singer suffered another health scare: a stroke. Subsequent tests also revealed a hole in his heart.

Another Medical Issue Last Year

In June last year, he was set to perform with his band in Nashville when he was taken to the hospital “due to an unforeseen medical complication.” He recovered quickly, though, and was back onstage just a few days later.

Still Grateful

Despite the rollercoaster ride that his health has taken over the years, Michaels remains positive.

“Every day I say this – ‘Grateful, grateful to be here,’” he stated.

'I'm Gonna Be Victorious'

He’s determined not to let all the challenges defeat him, saying, “It's one of those things when I was a kid, honest to god, I decided I’m not gonna be a victim. I’m gonna be victorious.”

Pittsburgh Steelers Fan

In the meantime, the Rock of Love star, who’s a Pittsburgh Steelers fan, is excited for the sports event – one of his favorite things apart from music. “I think this is gonna be an amazing Super Bowl, that's my prediction,” he said.
