Bindi Irwin is paying tribute to her parents, Steve and Terri Irwin, to celebrate a nostalgic occasion.
The 24-year-old Aussie conservationist and TV personality posted a lovely throwback pic of Steve and Terri on Instagram on the 31st anniversary of their engagement.
In the photo shared with Bindi’s five million followers, the iconic couple are all smiles while posing in their signature khaki uniforms. Their equally famous dog, Sui, is sitting between them.
Bindi, who’s the elder of Steve and Terri’s two children, honored her parents (and dog) with a sweet tribute, saying, “Best friends. Soul mates. True love. ❤️ The most incredible parents. And of course, Sui.”
A few days earlier, Terri also posted on Twitter a fun throwback photo of her and her husband taken during a show at Australia Zoo’s Crocoseum. Steve is talking into a mic as Terri poses in front of him with her arms outstretched.
Her caption says, “It was 31 years ago today that Steve asked, and I said ‘Yes!’. We were soulmates, best friends, and worked together on a mission of wildlife conservation. Best of all, we had lots of fun!”
Nearly two decades after Steve died from a stingray attack, fans are still feeling nostalgic about him and the wildlife work he and Terri did at Australia Zoo.
Bindi’s followers took to the comments section to express their love for Steve and Terri. One wrote, “Your parents were some of the first people who inspired me to be curious about the natural world and I'm so grateful. Today, I'm pursuing a bachelor's degree in marine biology. 💖🦈”
Another commented, “They’re the reason I believe in soulmates ❤️.” And a third person wrote, “Loved your parents, Bindi - their love & respect for one another always shined through 💕.”
Bindi was only 8 years old when her dad died after a stingray pierced him through the heart. At the time, the wildlife icon was filming a documentary at the Great Barrier Reef.
Bindi is now continuing her late father’s conservation work at Australia Zoo alongside her mother, brother Robert, and husband Chandler Powell.
Last year, she also honored her parents on their wedding anniversary by posting a throwback pic captioned, “30 years of a love story that has inspired the world. ❤️”
