The accident happened months after the TV personality was involved in a serious car fire where he sustained many facial burns and loads of other injuries in his garage in Los Angeles.

How Did The Accident Happen

The former Tonight Show host explained to the Las Vegas Review Journal that the accident happened when he tested a vintage 1940 Indian Motorcycle and soon noticed the strong smell of leaking gas.

The veteran continued that he decided to turn into a side street to check the source of the leaking gas, but he met an obstacle that caused him to fall off the bike.

"So I turned down a side street and cut through a parking lot, and unbeknownst to me, some guy had a wire strung across the parking lot but with no flag hanging from it, So, you know, I didn’t see it until it was too late. It just clothesline me and, boom, knocked me off the bike.

Keeping It Private

Leno decided to keep it secret because of how much publicity his November burns generated.

“You know, after getting burned up, you get that one for free,” said Leno amidst laughter. "After that, you’re Harrison Ford, crashing airplanes."
