It seems only yesterday when Nadya Suleman grabbed headlines after giving birth to eight babies. Now, the octuplets are teenagers!
In celebration of their 14th birthday, the single parent known to millions as “Octomom,” 47, treated the kids – Noah, Maliyah, Isaiah, Nariyah, Jeremiah, Josiah, Jonah, and Makai – to a fun day.
Suleman took her children to K1 Speed in Orange County, California for a spin around the go-kart track. After that, the party of nine grabbed pizza for the teens’ birthday lunch.
The eight kids looked so grown up as they posed alongside their mom for some pictures. They stood in a row holding gold Mylar balloons that together spelled “BIRTHDAY,” while Nadya in the middle opted for a bunch of silver balloons.
Nadya’s stunning story became tabloid fodder in 2009 when she had her octuplets – six boys and two girls. At the time, she was already mom to six older kids: Amerah, Calyssa, Elijah, Caleb, Joshua, and Aidan.
She conceived her first six children via in vitro fertilization, after which she continued IVF treatments and had eight more. Dr. Michael Kamrava, the specialist responsible for all of her in vitro pregnancies, implanted 12 embryos from an unnamed sperm donor (“my octuplets have a frozen German/Nicaraguan donor,” she once noted in an Instagram comment), and she gave birth to eight babies on January 26, 2009.
Her story attracted massive media attention at the time, and Nadya became the target of hate and ridicule. She later chose to drop out of the spotlight and continued to quietly raise her large family away from public scrutiny.
However, the mom-of-14 has surprised all the naysayers with how well she’s been able to take care of her brood.
Last year, on the octuplets’ 13th birthday, she shared a photo on Instagram to celebrate them, saying, “You are all growing into some of the most kind, humble, grateful and loving human beings I have ever known.”
She continued, “Each of you possess rare and unique characteristics, and are unlike any other child of your age, particularly in our society today.”
Nadya ended her tribute, “I do not know what I could possibly have done to deserve being blessed so bountifully. I love you ❤️”
