JoJo Siwa Celebrates 2 Years Of Embracing Her Authentic Self

Siwa fancies herself as the "Best Gay Cousin" to everyone in her community, per her celebratory t-shirt. The Dance Moms alum posed in her signature side ponytail with a pink scrunchie while showing off her black t-shirt.

Siwa met mixed reactions when she came out as queer, causing her to gain as many fans as she lost. A commenter reminded the singer that coming out was one of the "hardest and bravest" things she could've done.

The Dance Moms alum's post hit closer to home for one of her followers, who shared a lengthy post about how Siwa's bravery helped her life. @Moonchild_Millie said her younger sister took a cue from Siwa's revelation and opened up about being queer in 2021.

Siwa recently made news headlines when she revealed more about her past relationship with Avery Cyrus. The dancer said the 22-year-old TikTok creator used her and caused her severe heartache despite Cyrus narrating a different account.

Cyrus said she and Siwa broke up after three months because they decided their friendship was stronger than a relationship. Meanwhile, Siwa narrated a different story in December (a month after Cyrus), saying the content creator used her to increase the latter's TikTok views.

Siwa posted a TikTok video saying the break-up wasn't about being young and discovering themselves but about increasing TikTok views. The dancer said,

The 19-year-old has more social media presence than her ex-girlfriend, leading fans to draw parallels between her story and situation with Cyrus. So, when Siwa said someone used her for clout and views, they immediately connected her 45.4 million followers on TikTok while Cyrus had 8 million plus.

Since the breakup and coming out, Siwa has moved on with her life including earning a spot on the TIME 100. She's come a long way from feeling happy being free to living in her truth.
