The death of the pro wrestler was announced by All Elite Wrestling CEO Tony Khan. He took to Twitter to share the tragic news on Tuesday. Khan used the wrestler's real name, writing, "Sadly, Jamin Pugh has passed away,"
Briscoe was a star in ROH for more than 20 years. He and his brother, Mark, reigned as champions in ROH for years to date.
The news of Briscoe's death was confirmed by the Wrestling Observer, Dave Meltzer. He shared that the accident happened by 5:30 p.m. Meltzer also reported that two children were hospitalized from the accident. However, his brother, Mark, was not in the car at the time of the accident.
The emergency log gotten by the wrestling outlet, Ringside News gave details about the incident. There was another death recorded at the scene. A woman who was in another vehicle also died during the accident. Also, Briscoe's daughter was with him during the wreck and was in critical condition.
Sources revealed that Briscoe and his daughter were going home from a cheerleading competition. Another person was also reported to be in critical condition from the accident.
WBOC shared that due to the heartbreaking incident, the Lauren School District said they will close schools on January 18th. However, the schools would be reopened on January 19th.
Briscoe's death triggered a lot of emotional outpour from the wrestling community on social media. After Khan announced the news on Twitter, All Elite Wrestling released a separate statement. They mourned the passing of the pro wrestler. Wrestling fans also took to social media to express their sadness over the loss.

Briscoe and Mark joined ROH wrestling in 2002. They established the tag team called The Briscoe Brothers. The Briscoe Brothers were crowned ROH World Tag Team Championship 13 times. It amounted to a total record of 1,413 days.
They recently won the tag team title in a Double Dog Collar match against FTR's Dax Harwood and Cash Wheeler. Also, the first class honorees of ROH's Hall of Fame include Briscoe and Mark.
