Sounds Like Elvis

Austin Butler still sounds like Elvis, as you might have noticed if you watched footage or interviews with him from the most recent Golden Globes. He still sounds like he's from the Deep South despite being from California, as many people have pointed out.

Not Ditching The Elvis Voice Anytime Soon

Despite his heartfelt tribute to the Presley family and others, Austin's voice overshadowed his speech which had fans sharing their reactions on Twitter. Swipe to see;

Butler doesn't seem to have plans to stop using the voice anytime soon, much to the public's disappointment.

Elvis Is In His DNA

The actor stated in an interview following the Golden Globes;

“I had three years where that was my only focus, so I’m sure there are pieces of him in my DNA, and I’ll always be linked.”

Butler apparently put a lot of effort into his preparation for the part and took on Elvis' voice to feel more like the singer.

Thought Of Only Elvis For Three Years

Earlier this year, he spoke about the experience in an interview with Janelle Monae for Variety’s Actors on Actors series.

“During Elvis, I didn’t see my family for about three years,” he said. “I had months where I wouldn’t talk to anybody, and when I did, the only thing I was ever thinking about was Elvis.”

A Challenging Procedure

Learning a new accent is extremely difficult for performers. Accent assimilation is a demanding procedure that frequently calls for attentive listening to archival material, documentaries, movies, interviews, and linguistic nuance observation.

Austin Butler's portrayal of Elvis demonstrates how a performer needs to be extremely sensitive to the demands of a part, accent, script style, and movie.

How Long Does Accent Training Last?

A dialect coach works with the actor beginning months or years before filming. The coach offers accent breakdowns and source recordings (such as those of genuine people like Elvis). For complete immersion, the actor will always listen to the sound samples.

Other Actors That Have Been In Austin's Shoes

It is important to be believable when an actor plays an iconic figure like Elvis. This may cause actors to maintain their accents for several months or even years.

Jamie Foxx as Ray Charles, Natalie Portman as Jackie Kennedy, Meryl Streep as Julia Child, and Ben Kingsley as Gandhi are examples of actors in this predicament.

Bagging Nominations

His voice may have changed due to the choice, but he is now a Hollywood star. In addition to being nominated for best actor at the Critics' Choice Awards and the Screen Actors Guild Awards, Butler won the Golden Globe. He is likely to receive an Oscar nomination.
