The staff and students at Compton-Drew Middle School in St. Louis, Missouri were recently thrown into mourning following the death of a beloved teacher. The deceased's death was a big blow to the school and the football world, as he was a former professional player. Here are the details of the story.

On January 9, 2022, the police responded to a welfare check at Ahmaad Galloway's apartment. According to reports, the call welfare check request came from the school where the deceased worked as an English teacher.

During an interview, the principal Susan Reid made it known that Ahmaad was a very punctual and responsible staff member. According to her, they knew something was wrong when he didn't show up that day.

Ahmaad Is Found Dead

Ahmaad's colleagues informed the police, who went to his apartment only to be greeted by his lifeless body. Although the cause of death is yet to be identified, Susan said nothing was disrupted in the deceased's home, meaning his death could have been a medical issue.

Before becoming a teacher, Ahmaad had an amazing career as a professional football running back. He spent four years in Alabama, playing sparingly behind star Shaun Alexander during his freshman season.

In 2000, Ahmaad ran 659 yards and had seven touchdowns as a sophomore before running 881 yards and six more scores as a junior. At some point, the late footballer suffered a knee injury while playing for Southern Mississippi early in his senior season, which cost him that year.

Nevertheless, Ahmaad finished with 1,830 yards on the ground and 17 touchdowns with the Crimson Tide. His talent was enough to get him picked by the Denver Broncos in the seventh round, 235th overall in the 2003 NFL draft.

Ahmaad sat out that 2003 season, getting rehab for his knee, and was eventually traded to the San Diego Chargers before the 2004 campaign. The former football player last played for the Frankfurt Galaxy in 2005.

Ahmaad was a man many loved and will always be remembered for his great qualities. Following his demise, Ahmaad's sister, Kimberly Slaughter, said her brother was always humble and quiet.

She further noted that he loved football while growing up and later loved his two kids, Austin and Aubrey. Kimberly wasn't the only family member who spoke well of the deceased. Ahmaad's cousin Monaco Houston described him as a man of his word.

Monaco said Ahmaad always felt like he would reach the NFL while growing up and did just that. Monaco also said his cousin was shy but had a quiet smile, adding that he was great with kids.

Football Legend Airs His Thoughts

Besides family, some football legends also aired their thoughts. Marvin Constant, Former 'Bama linebacker who played alongside Ahmaad, said he was sad to hear the news. He noted that he and Ahmaad spent most of their time talking about life, not football.

Marvin also said he spoke to Ahmaad a week before his death, and he sounded very great. According to him, they had been very close since 2002, when they spent time together rehabilitating their knees.

Ahmaad Was A Humble Man

Former 'Bama offensive lineman Griff Redmill was not left out. He admitted to having fond memories of the deceased, noting that Ahmaad was humble yet mature and very put together beyond his years.
