On December 23, 2022, the executive producer died suddenly following a heart attack. Shortly after his demise, the President of ABC News, Kim Godwin, made the news public via a memo sent to the network's staff. Kim began the note by noting that the news was received with a heavy heart. Then, he proceeded thus:

"As EP of This Week with George Stephanopolous Dax's energy, passion, and love for that show, ABC News, and you, shined every Sunday morning. That same love was extended to his precious girls."

Kim finished off by noting that their thoughts were with Dax's wife, Veronica, their two young daughters, and the entire Tejera family. Then, she advised the staff to hug their loved ones a little tighter and lean on one another.

Dax's Colleague Pay Tribute

Not long after the news became public, Dax's colleagues took to social media to pay tribute to the deceased. In a tweet, ABC News correspondent John Quiñones noted that it was a heartbreaking day for everyone at the organization. He said Dax was the brightest and most compassionate executive producer he had ever worked with. John also left his thoughts with Dax's wife and daughters.

More Tributes From Colleagues

ABC News Senior National Correspondent Jim Avila was not left out. In a tweet, he described Dax as a groundbreaking executive producer. The television personality also noted that the late 37-year-old was very important to ABC, adding that Dax was a supportive and good man. To wrap it up, Jim noted that he would miss his colleague.

Inside Dax's Last Instagram Post

Besides being a television personality, Dax was a man who enjoyed sharing his personal life with netizens on Instagram. Posts shared on his page featured beautiful photos of himself and his family. Just before his death, Dax gave a last update.

The post comprised three images, one of which saw him posing with Joe Biden and his wife, Jill Biden. The other two slides were snaps of his wife and adorable little daughters. Dax will be greatly missed, and the world can only hope his wife and kids come out of the tragic situation strong.
