Emily Blunt and Tom Cruise linked up in the early 2010s to film the dystopian action movie Edge of Tomorrow, leading to a $370.5 million-grossing movie. However, the classic didn't come easily, and we learned about it through Blunt.

The Englishwomen visited Jason Bateman, Will Arnett, and Sean Hayes on their podcast, SmartLessearlier this week. She said her co-lead Tom Cruise gave her some tough love during the production and they still laugh about it today.

It Was A Harmless Joke

While the media ran with the statement, "Come on, stop being such a P***y, OK!" Blunt confirmed that we all took it out of context, and it wasn't meant maliciously. She told People that Cruise is her dear friend, and he made the interesting filming back in 2013.

The statement was a joke which resulted from her struggling to perform with her heavyweight costume. So, Cruise teased her about it, and they laughed.

Sharing the anecdote was supposed to entertain everyone like it did her and the actor years ago, but it backfired. Due to her continuing friendship with Cruise, Blunt decided to clear the air.

Why She Struggled With The Mecha-Suits

Edge of Tomorrow is an action movie set in a dystopian world where Cruise and Blunt are military personnel who fight in mecha-suits. The suit weighs about 85 pounds (39 kg); hence the actress struggles to navigate the production in them.

The suits were so heavy that at least four people helped each movie star put them on and remove them. According to reports, they needed at least 30 minutes to wear and remove the mecha-suits, and mid-take, an iron chain hung them from a high point.

That relieved the 85-pound weight off their shoulders.

Impressive Ratings Across Board

Before filming, Blunt trained for three months and learned the Israeli Krav Maga to match Cruise's energy on set. The latter is famous for performing his stunts and even won a Palme D'Or at this year's Venice Film Festival.

Edge of Tomorrow earned high praise from critics with impressive ratings, 7.9/10 on IMDb, 91 percent on Rotten Tomatoes, and 85 percent on Just Watch.

Now Streaming On Netflix

If you're into human versus aliens action flicks, the movie is streaming on Netflix for your viewing pleasure. Throw in an interesting time loop, and you have Terminator meets Groundhog Day. The movie also stars Brendan Gleeson, Charlotte Riley, Bill Paxton, and Franz Drameh.
