Just like humans, dogs grieve their loved ones too. Though it may not be at the same intensity, they still feel their friend's absence, and the display is sometimes too profound to ignore. This video of two dogs grieving their sister, who passed away a few days ago, is breaking our hearts into a thousand little pieces.

Keep reading for the details.

A Sad Story

Dog mom @patty_mowgli_shen dropped this heart-wrenching video on TikTok, and now we won't stop sobbing. We can only imagine how painful this moment is for her and the remaining two dogs, who are also shaken by the loss of their sister.

The video opens with a dog silently noticing a portrait of their late sister, which the owner put up an hour before. The dog had died in her sleep six days before, and still, in the spirit of grieving, she thought to put her picture up.

The second one soon joined the first, and they jointly proceeded toward the picture, taking a closer look at it. It's so hard to take a second look at this video without breaking down in tears, but we're consoled that their little sister is an angel now, watching over them day and night.

Comments From Sad Viewers

We're all affected by this video and the comment section was flooded with love for the two living dogs and sympathy for their late sister.

User @angela_ty71 commented on the video, "They most definitely grieve. Poor babies, keep them very close to you."

We're rest assured this dog mama is providing them a shoulder to lean on at this very difficult time.

Another user who has lost not one, but two dogs had this to say.

"Dogs grieve each other," shared @kristiannaleverette. "They know and they feel it. I lost one to grief. Devastating. Prayers to you all." Our prayers up for this user too, must have been so painful dealing with the loss of two precious pets.

Signs Of A Mourning Dog

It may be a bit difficult to see through a dog's emotions and clearly define which is which, but these signs will help you.

Dogs alter their behavior when they mourn, just like a human. So expect them to become depressed, eat less, and refuse to run around or play like usual. They may even sleep for increased hours and sulk around the house.

How To Help Your Dog Cope With Grief

It's important to help your pet get out of that phase as soon as possible so the signs don't become permanent. You can take your dog out for a walk, play fetch, be more affectionate and loving, invite friends over to interact with your dog and while you're leaving the house, make sure to provide entertainment such as treat hunts or a fluffy toy to keep him busy till you get back.
