It often comes off sad and undesirable when children's wishes are not granted by their parents, however, it is pertinent to consider the reasons parents negate their children's requests sometimes. Some of these reasons could be linked to factors including the need for safety, time constraints, other schedules, or in the case of a Reddit mom, bad weather.

The mom shared her story on the AITA Subreddit platform noting a rift between her and her daughter over a Christmas party at her friend's home.

OP Changed Her Mind And Her Daughter Was Pissed

The Reddit mom narrated how she initially agreed for her 17-year-old daughter to attend a party thrown at a friend's home. The user made it known that she trusted her daughter while referring to her as a responsible person. She shared that she knew her daughter would not drink and would be home before curfew. The party also seemed to be organized on a safe level as the host's parents would be present. Everything seemed perfect until the weather forecast came in. According to the expert predictions, climate change would include snow and ice. In essence, road users were warned to stay off unless they needed to be out.

The Reddit parent stated that because her daughter was an inexperienced driver who recently got her license in the summer, she could not allow her to go to the Christmas party. She added that she and her spouse were quite uncomfortable having their teenage daughter go on one of her solo rides amid bad weather, and also at night. Moreso, the host's parents did not want anyone sleeping over after the party.

The OP relayed that her spouse was an EMT and was on duty. Prior to that occurrence, he often warned his family against heading out in snowy weather for the fear of accidents. In essence, the couple told their daughter she could not attend the party any longer. They also listed their reasons, but the teenager did not concur. She became pissed off and lashed out at her parents. The Redditor recalled how her daughter yelled at her and told her she broke a promise. She also referred to it as an AH behavior.

The netizen stated that although the friend lived thirty minutes away, she could not risk her daughter being out. However, her precaution ended in silent treatment from the teenager. In an edit, the Reddit user informed other users that the host's parents canceled the party and announced that they would reschedule for a later date. Redditors showed their support.
