Hilary Duff has opened up on her health and revealed suffering from a severe eating disorder. The former Disney star said that she was 17 when she was sick with a "horrifying" eating disorder, this via her recent Women's Health Australia January 2023 feature. The 35-year-old pointed the finger at Hollywood while saying that the pressure to be "skinny" in acting was terrible - she is also not alone in the celebrity world of men and women opening up to reveal having suffered an eating disorder. Fans are now rallying around the Younger star amid her candid reveal.

Speaking of her late teen years, Duff stated,

"Because of my career path, I can't help but be like, ‘I am on camera and actresses are skinny,'" adding, "It was horrifying."

That said, with time came some healing. Hilary continued,

"[I'm] appreciating my health, doing activities that make me feel strong instead of just bettering the outside of my body. Spending time with people that make me feel good and share similar views on health and body positivity and getting enough sleep and balance in my diet."

Stuns In Swimwear For Cover

The shoot accompanying the feature came with Hilary swimsuit-clad and even going unzipped. However, the figure-flaunting look was body-positive rather than overtly provocative. Hilary posed showing off her fit and curvy figure while also sending out a massive smile.

Appreciating Her Body

Women's Health Australia posted the cover to its Instagram. Shouting Hilary out, it wrote:

"After spending years trying to live up to Hollywood's standards of the perfect body, and even battling a year-long eating disorder when she was 17, Hilary decided to shift her focus to getting strong. "I'm appreciating my health, doing activities that make me feel strong instead of just bettering the outside of my body," she tells us in the cover story."

It's Common

The celebrity world is filled with stars who have opened up about their battles. Notably suffering from eating disorders have been fellow former Disney star Demi Lovato, singer Taylor Swift, plus dancer and singer Paula Abdul. Hilary's trainer also opened up in the feature, saying,

“I don’t feel like she’ll mind me saying this: yes, her fitness and health are hugely important to Hilary. What’s more important to her is her family and work." Hilary is known for roles including How I Met Your Father and Lizzie McGuire. For more, check out her Instagram.
