It is no secret that cats love to destroy Christmas trees. These animals are curious creatures, and when a cat owner brings something new into the house, like a festive tree, these animals are definitely going to investigate. Unfortunately, many families know the pain of putting up a decorated Christmas tree only to have it knocked over and ruined by their feline friend.

However, besides ruining the decorated Christmas tree, this cat behavior can pose a serious health hazard for one's pet. A Christmas tree, whether real or artificial, can be dangerous if a cat tends to climb things it shouldn't. In addition, these trees contain sharp pine needles that can easily cause internal and external damage. Thankfully, this viral cat survived after a Christmas tree it destroyed landed on it. Here are the details.

Inside The Viral Video

A cat named Simba has left TikTok users in stitches after a clip of it destroying its owner's beautifully decorated Christmas tree went viral on social media. The video shared on the app by the user with username @yoilseari showed the cat destroying the newly decorated tree with ball ornaments and brightly shining lights.

Unfortunately, the cat's actions backfired as the Christmas tree came crashing down directly on top of it. However, from the owner's laughter reaction, Simba seemed okay. In the caption that accompanied the video, @yoilseari asked TikTokers for tips to prevent such incidents from reoccurring. She wrote:

"Please send tips so this won't happen again."

What Did TikTokers Think?

It has been four days since the TikTok user shared the post, and the video has garnered nearly sixty million views. Also, it has been liked over three million times, and about 51,000 TikTokers have taken to the comments section to air their thoughts. Many users found the video hilarious.

One respondent said she had watched the video several times and was amazed at how the ornaments bounced off the floor and hooked onto the fireplace. Another jokingly made it known that she thought cats should have quick reflexes, considering that the cat watched the tree fall on it. A third user commented:

"Honestly people with cats need compensation every year LMAO."

Netizens To The Rescue

While some TikTok users admitted to the funny nature of the incident, others gave the owner some tips as she requested. For example, one user said they used to chase their cat around the house with the tree before setting it up, and that act stopped the cat from going near it. Another suggested putting orange peels under the tree in a Christmas bag, as cats were not fans of citrus.

More Helpful Suggestions

Like the first TikToker who commented, most other netizens suggested using a part of the tree to scare the cat five minutes before putting it up. Others suggested using Keep Off cat repellents, a rope to tie the tree to something, or putting a base object around the bottom of the Christmas tree. Hopefully, these suggestions will be helpful to @yoilseari.
