After the release of Logan, Hugh Jackman vowed that he was done playing Wolverine. He promised that he was hanging up his adamantium claws after giving the iconic X-Men what the character longed after for so many years: a perfect death. But as perfect as Hugh was as Logan, his tenure wasn't complete.

One thing still eluded him — a date with Ryan Reynolds' Deadpool. In a similar vein as DC fans helping to #ReleaseTheSnydercut, so too have Marvel fanatics made their voices known. Logan and Deadpool will indeed take one final ride together, and we may yet get to see Hugh in Wolverine's iconic comic book suit.

Technically Speaking, Wolverine and Deadpool Have Appeared in a Film Together

Wade Wilson and Logan (aka Deadpool and Wolverine) first crossed paths in X-Men Origins: Wolverine. But because the film isn't considered canon, and because it sullies Deadpool's good name by turning him into Weapon 11, most fans don't count it. They long to see Deadpool in his signature red suit, alongside Wolverine in his comic book-accurate costume, running amuck, causing havoc, and saving lives in the best buddy-cop-style comedy the MCU has or ever will see. Is that too much to ask?

After Years of Speculation and Unrelenting Lobbying on the Part of Ryan Reynolds, Both the Fans and the Actors Finally Had Their Wish Granted

On September 28th, 2022, Ryan and Hugh took to YouTube in order to officially confirm that a Deadpool/Wolverine movie was in the works. They promised fans that their film wouldn't contradict the events in Logan and assured everyone that the film is indeed still canon. The pair then explained what their movie would be, just as Wham!'s Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go began to play over their audio.

As of right now, there's been no official announcement as to whether or not Wolverine will don his classic yellow/blue suit or his brown variant. But thanks to digital artist/creator Subi Özil, fans have been given a glimpse of what it could look like. Back in October of 2022, Subi posted two fan-art images that depict the version of Wolverine that comic book fans will be more than familiar with — complete with Deadpool's head on Logan's claws.

Their co-founder, Jimmy O'Brien, has become renowned for his impressive video breakdowns and was at the center of exposing the Houston Astros 2017/2018 cheating scandal. Jimmy also has an incredible lip-reading talent, which he puts to work brilliantly in this teaser breakdown. "I don't think I got everything perfect," Jimmy explained. "But I think I got the gist of it pretty good."
