With another Halloween night approaching, it's important for us all to grow more aware and more inclusive for the sake of kiddos everywhere, and it's easier now than ever with a variety of different pumpkins available.

If you don't know what all the different colors mean, don't worry about it — I'm here to break down what every special pumpkin color means and what you can do to help the trick-or-treaters coming to your door this Halloween!

We're all familiar with orange pumpkins — they're the classic symbol of Halloween!

However, over recent years, many companies and organizations have turned to using brightly colored pumpkins to convey certain messages or raise awareness for important causes.

Let's start with the most popular pumpkin pail color (besides orange, of course) which is blue!

If a child is carrying a blue pumpkin pail it means they could be on the autism spectrum. With this in mind, it could mean the trick-or-treater is spooked by scary decorations or is unable to say "trick or treat" without being prompted.

Giving extra attention and understanding to kiddos (young and old) with blue pails will ensure everyone has a special Halloween night.

Teal pumpkin pails are used for children who are living with food allergies.

Food allergies are no joke, and Halloween candy can be full of many common allergens like nuts, gluten, and dairy. Through the Teal Pumpkin Project, both trick-or-treaters and candy-givers can alert each other of allergen-free treats, or non-food items altogether.

Many accommodating people are starting to put teal pumpkins on their porches so kids with allergies know they're safe to stop there.

A purple pumpkin has become a symbol for those who have epilepsy.

The origins of this significant color come from the Purple Pumpkin Project, which was started in an effort to raise awareness about epilepsy, as well as to keep children safe in case of a seizure so adults will know to contact help immediately.

Last but certainly not least is the pink pumpkin, which is used for raising funds for researching the cure for breast cancer.

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, so what better time to show support to those struggling with breast cancer than on Halloween? The Pink Pumpkin Patch Foundation donates to organizations involved in breast cancer research by raising funds through the sales of pink pumpkins.

How awesome is that?
