The art of deep-frying (and it is an art) has existed for over a century. Deep-fried dishes have become a staple carnival food and are served in countless restaurants all over the globe.

Thanks to a viral new TikTok trend, deep-fried foodies have a new reason to celebrate. It turns out that deep-fried milk is actually a thing, and it's surprisingly tasty.

You can quite literally deep-fry anything, from chicken to pickles, heck — you can even deep-fry Mars bars. It's a wonderful way to make the foods we already love, taste even better.

But is it possible to take the art of deep-frying too far?

For instance, most of us would probably turn our noses up at the very thought of deep-frying milk. But as it turns out, that might be a mistake.

There's a growing trend on TikTok wherein users have begun deep-frying their milk — and it's delicious.

There are several different ways to create this calcium-rich delicacy, but the easiest route involves three basic ingredients: milk, corn starch, and sugar.

Combine the elements in a pot, and mix together over low heat.

After a few minutes, the ingredients will begin to congeal and thicken. Once you've reached the desired consistency, remove the pot from the heat and set it aside.

Next, retrieve a mixing bowl from the cupboard and line it with a piece of parchment paper.

Pour the mixture from the pot into the lined bowl; make sure to use a rubber spatula so that nothing is left behind.

Take the bowl and place it into the refrigerator.

Allow at least two hours for the milk mixture to cool; when it starts to resemble a Jello mold, you know it's ready to go. After the mix has cooled, remove it from the fridge.

Place the bowl on the counter and begin cutting the frozen milk into slices.

Try to make them as even as possible, so as to allow for an even cook time. Coat the slices in corn starch, dip them in an egg bath, and dust with panko.

From there, you're going to want to carefully place the coated slices into your boiling oil or deep-fryer.

Let the coated slices cook for 3-4 minutes, until golden brown. Make sure to use caution whenever you're using hot oils.

Once cooked through, carefully remove the deep-fried milk and sprinkle with powdered sugar.

Deep-fried milk is a surprisingly sweet and tasty dessert that you can share with your friends at your next dinner party. In order to take it to the next level, try drizzling some caramel sauce on top.

Fun fact: deep-fried milk is actually a delicacy in many different parts of the world.

If you ever find yourself traveling to China, Spain, Italy, or India, you can expect to find deep-fried milk on the menu. Now, thanks to the viral TikTok trend, it may begin popping up in North America as well.

It just goes to show you that you should never judge a dish until you've tried it.

Deep-fried milk only furthers the point that you can deep-fry anything. All that's limiting you, at the end of the day, is your own imagination and a willingness to try something new.
